    lots of cool tech coming out, p4/5 of course is an independant, and it'll be interesting to see more & more developments like this ....not long before hotrodders will have a KERS to put in thier garage projects! :D

    When is KERS (or electric engines) going to debut on the 1/4 mile drag strip?. Think of the possibilities for new records with peak torque at 0 revs. Charge capacitor and ready for next run.

    An electric car would smash petrol engined cars in this limited use of automobile technology.

    they are running electric drag bikes, but of course the mass of batteries is a drawback ....KERS wouldn't work though IMO because it's a single straight line race, so no recouping necessary

    Yes, but would'nt the capacitor from a KERS system be lighter than batteries? So yes recouping would not happen.

    i wondered about that once, an electric drive, with capacitors instead of batteries, possibly that could work for drag racing, as capacitive discharge happens all at once
