Yup. I'm happy for Massa if he did indeed resign. I just hope he can put some decent results together the rest this year and all of next. As much as I like the guy, if he's not helping the team, he shouldn't retain the seat. Mark
Remember when they signed Kimi for an extra year? He didn't drive for them, though. They paid him not to. So...IMO, this means nothing.
God I hope you're right. Massa another year in a Ferrari would be hard to stomach. The guy is an insult to the brand.
On what basis are you saying this? We, and no one knows how fast Sutil or Perez can be in a Ferrari, just like no one would have predicted that Hammi would eventually beat Fred in the 2007 WDC standings. I stand by my point, if Ferrari have really signed Massa, then they just don't wanna upset the balance of the team. We could see Vettel and Perez teamming up together in the near future. Out of topic, but what about that dude Jules Bianchi?
Agree'd of all mentioned the only FAST in FERRARI was Bianchi. The rest have NEVER driven the car or been in the simulator. Word out is that Perez was actually SLOW in the Ferrari simulator recently.
I think one of the reasond to resign mssa as to do with the chance of Alonso taking the title this year. In 07, He was also confirmed and he actually "handed" the title to Kimmi in Brazil. Now, back in the days when Felipe had not been struck in the head, he would easily blast anyone else at interlagos, and given the fact that he is driving well in the last couple of races, i´m sure Luca want´s to be sure he will help Alonso if the chance arises. Anyway, if he continues to improve, i´m happy he stayed. Just for thr record, for everyone who keeps on bashing him, Felipe was directly responsible for the last 3 titles Ferrari won...and if not for a series of events that had nothing to do with him, it would have been 4.....as for alonso, i still count a big zero!!!!
True the team screwed Phil in 08 but he also threw away valuable points with stupid mistakes; Alonso lost the wdc in 2010 due to poor strategy by Ferrari in the last race. This year Fred has shown he is the most complete driver in F1, leading the championship in maybe the third or fourth best car, whereas Phil can't get his grips around it.
Leading one to think the car is probably more in mind with FA than anyone else. The car is in my opinion designed for maximum effect for FA and enough of effect for anyone else. FA has stated he would be happy for Massa to stay. That sums it up concisely. The number 2 job at Ferrari does not appear to be career 'enhancing' overall. Ask Rubens LOL!
Massa is the best bet for the current Ferrari ethos. I don't think any of the top drivers will want to go there just to be Alonso's and ferraris btich. "Alonso WILL ALWAYS be faster than you"
I get the impression that Ferrari are happy to make the fastest driver their number one. The was an apparent no 1 swap with Kimi and Massa ...remember? I think Alonso is number 1 at ferrari because he's genuinely faster than Massa....but if someone comes along who's faster, that will change very quickly.
I get the feeling that will depend on what the small print says in Alonso's contract. I am betting the name Lewis Hamilton is in there some were.
Rubens was lucky to be able to get a great car for so many years and bag several wins and loads of podiums. He was far from a top-flight driver and most second-tier drivers never get the chance to drive a car that good. He had his shot to be "#1" at Brawn and we saw how that turned out...
Exactly right. Which makes all of this speculation about "Scuderia Alonso" just ...BS. We have seen that a supposed #2 can take over the #1 role by bringing results. Results talk.
