Hello Jim, great video clips! I have a question for you. I see that you have a driving simulator in your hospitality area at the track. Do you know what brand of simulator you have there? I could not make it out in the videos. The reason I ask is because I make the simulator pedals for many of the commercial cockpits that are out there. So, I was curious if you were possibly using a set of my pedals in your cockpit. Just wondering. Thanks! Todd
It is a commercial motion rig made by Fanatec. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=456752097684447&set=a.340573865968938.100344.305504559475869&type=3 http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=457512090941781&set=a.340573865968938.100344.305504559475869&type=3
Thanks for the info. Fanatec makes their own pedals so I know that my pedals are not in there. Thanks anyway!
Hi That is owned by the guys who make the software. At some point I'll get one for our shop. What are the best one's?
Hello Jim, it depends on if you want some motion on the sim or not. There are a couple of methods used to give motion cues on these types of cockpits. They can slightly raise and lower the corners of the cockpit or tilt the seat back and forth and slightly to the side to simulate g forces. I think that the motion cues add a lot to the immersion factor of the sim. They both also have great audio systems with bass transducers to offer a great tactile feedback. Here are a couple of them. CXC Simulations: They are also a sponsor here at FChat. They use the method of tilting the top of the seat to give motion cues. Contact Chris Considine. http://cxcsimulations.com/ Virtual GT: They offer an upgrade that raises and lowers the corners of the cockpit for motion cues. Contact Paul Stary http://www.virtualgt.com/ Tell them I sent you. Not sure that will help but it can't hurt.
Also Jim, if you were ever interested in one of these cockpits and wanted to set it up to simulate your P4/5 C, I would be happy to build a custom set of pedals for the cockpit to match it not only in looks but also in functional parameters. I have done this for several Nascar, Indycar and F1 drivers. If you just wanted one for people to use for fun, then the stock set of pedals I provide for these cockpits should work just fine. Thanks
Hey Jim, Out of curiosity, has any part or process used in the development of P 4/5CM found it's way to P 4/5 by Pininfarina?
We will do an Evo of P 4/5 with a CF front subframe and different radiator to lessen weight and also dull clear coat the dash to lessen glare. We'll also install a new GPS and rear view camera. Visually the car will look the same. Almost 10K miles and she's wonderful to drive.
And if anybody was wondering for a second who designed the nose, it was NOT Castriota! Anyone who misspeaks about that is an idiot, that's for sure... Wouldn't be caught dead making that mistake.
Traveled approx 1000 miles each way with car to see the P4/5C perform at the Nürburgring on both the 24hr runs. And I cross fingers that you will participate on next years, you can count me in being there Just want to say it`s been a thrill following both your projects. Been lurking around Ferrarichat daily for ages, so thought it might be in place with a Thank you for being so open with your projects. According to my stats it goes approx 2 years between my posts, so I hope the next one will be congratulating you with the overall victory on the 24hr of nürburgring. Cheers, Joachim "the lurker" Johansen
