MU-2 great planes... I didn't have any issues with flying them... built like a tank... a bit unconventional to new pilots...

I flew on this from Beijung to Pyongyang yesterday. Thing took off like a rocketship and felt very solid. Even if the safety record is less then stellar...

Awesome - what tour are you on? I'm still planning a visit sometime early to mid-2013 with my daughter.

Hmm. Wait, you flew into Pyongyang yesterday, and were able to post here?

"Cut Out In This Area"? I've seen that on plastic model kits, but on a full-size airliner???

I feel like this trip deserves its own thread.

Probably an embraer e jet. I dislike how the thing rides. And now that I have worked with them I really question how well the thing was built/engineered.

Man! The workmanship looks rough on that strut and nacelle. Ripples, wrinkles, and big gaps.

I have yet to feel comfortable with any Aeroflot aircraft or any other Russian based operator or Russian built aircraft...back in the day they they did not inspire confidence in their maintainance or the appearance of aircarft... I have not flown with them ... thus far I have not seen anything to change my mind...I am very familair with the industry and see things others may not...things may have changed but I haven't... add in all their incidents that have made the news... the confidence is not there...

    +1 Pretty dicey.
I'm pretty sure my curiousity about the DPRK is not strong enough to get me aboard that 'airplane'.......

The plane really wasn't that bad compared to the Illuisions 76s that usually do the Beijing to Pyongyang route. I can't overstate how powerful this thing was. Leaving Beijing it was full of freight and still took off like a rocket.

That airport is virtually a museum of old Russian airline equipment!

This is the airplane, which would be called upon, if the mission unfolded.

It is from the 8th F.W., which is based out of Kunsan A.B., S.K.

I was on the base as a visitor.

That reminds me of a comment by an American pilot who got confusing instructions from the tower at Berlin as to parking slots and he asked for a clarification. A Lufthansa pilot chimed in on the channel and asked the American about his problem," Haven't you ever been to Berlin!" The American answered, " Yes, in 1943, but we didn't bother to land."

I've heard that story about 5 times... still not tired of it. Still laugh.

    Thanks, Bob...
