In Paris, Ferrari Chairman Luca Cordero di Montezemolo said: "You can be sure it will not be called Luca."

    Oh Luca, you kill me.

Well, think about it—Ferrari's names for their recent cars have frequently rejected traditional automotive convention, which is to go with scientific format: Genus species subspecies.

Porsche 911 Turbo. Audi R8 V10 Spyder. Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG. Almost every automotive name these days sticks to that basic template.

But Ferrari often chooses names that don't lend themselves to that guideline. The Enzo was called, depending on who you asked, the Ferrari Enzo, the Enzo Ferrari, or the Ferrari Enzo Ferrari. In the end, most of us settled on "Ferrari Enzo."

The two initials in the FF's name stand for "Ferrari Four." So technically, the name of the car is either Ferrari Four, Ferrari Ferrari Four or just plain FF. We all tend to call it the Ferrari FF.

The F12berlinetta is spelled out as one mushed-up word, according to Ferrari. But most people out there—from the car magazines to the Ferrari fans—spell it out the way we think it should look, "F12 Berlinetta."

Point is, Ferrari chooses whatever the hell kind of name for their cars that they want to. If there is a trend, it's that the names have been getting more simple. Italia. Enzo. Four. Berlinetta. Scuderia. I'd be very surprised to see them go back to their esoteric nomenclature and pick something like Monza, Imola or Gilles.

Maybe they'll go back to F## nomenclature and call it the F70. Maybe they'll name it the Ferrari F1. Maybe they'll call it the Ferrari Ferrari, or just The Ferrari. But I'm guessing it'll be simple, perhaps to extremes, rather than something plucked from their history.

I looked up the trademark registrations for any hints. Didn't see anything new except for Hy Kers logo.

I remember they TMed California way before its debut.

It may be Ferrari Futuro or something like Ferrari "Liberta" (italians love that word)...

Some of the names suggested here are terrible.

I think we can almost be sure they will be better than what Ferrari name it. They have made some shockers lately IMO: Ferrari Enzo Ferrari and 599GTO.

    I don't think so.

IMO It does not sound like it has anything to do with this car:

In fact Hyundai prefers to call its super cars Mclaren. Fact!

re '51 1st 'Ferrari' F1 victory (and the quick little mouse ;o) ). I'm scraping the bucket here.

I guess the car will be too heavy for a nimble name to suit. Millechili was a great 'little' moniker for the 1 tonne show car. Hope ferrari will market something at that weight or lower soon..ish.

That is corny enough for Ferrari to actually use! Would be amusing too :D

How about some Torque FRP :)
If we asume the same torque/cappacity ratio as the f12, and the 7.3l engine

    6.3l gives 690 Nm, ehich is 109.5Nm per liter..(same as Enzo's 657Nm@6L)

Which gives us ~800Nm for 7.3L v12 engine...

now expecting 120hp electric, would give 141Nm at 6000rpm, which I'm guessing will be the engine's highst torque point...

so we can expect a 941Nm at full Kers, and 800Nm in no Kers...

Off course this is all just guess work, But I do expect the engine to have at least 750Nm max, and at least another 120Nm per electric, so 900Nm is more then posible

I was hoping they are going to show a little more, but it seems that it is the same couple of prototypes over and over again.

Had to look that up on Wikipedia.

Course both him and Freud were wrong about homosexuality.

It comes from driving Porsches. ;)

Besides, anybody else thinks the back of the mule is pretty much definitive?

Especially air intakes and pipes position?
