    Things to check:

    1) gas cap
    2) fuel filler lines
    3) fuel lines to and from the fuel rails
    4) vapor recovery lines
    5) signs of a leaking fuel tank, in particular popped spot welds

Pull fuel filler neck/tube and associated internal sleeves and inspect imeadieately. Or just have a truck full of Halon follow you around!

Yes, don't drive until you find the source of the gas smell.

was in a 348 on the track that had an issue with the fuel filler hose. the one that goes from the gas cap filler neck to the tank, kind of surprised me they used a cheap plastic like hose.... no it doesn't surprise me.

I have experienced the same problem, but only when the tank is freshly filled to the top and I take some hard corners. Makes me suspect the filler tubing close to the cap. I don't get the smell when I fill with gas so I'm thinking the gas pump nozzle may insert beyond a leak point. Will be diagnosing shortly during her winter rest.
