Aston is losing its elegance to the styling of future cars. All of the angularities ruin the perfect lines of the DB9 and old Vanquish.
Also the 2013 model will be underpowered at 565 hp. In this day and age with a V12, it should easily be pushing 650-700 hp.

I have my eyes set on the DBS...

I dont like the new Vanquish at all. It looks like a warmed over DBS.

The REAL Vanquish was a completley diffrent animal, and the new one is an insult to it.

I am really starting to dislike Aston Martin. :(

Its a gorgeous car. i am looking at the Maserati GTS and the older Vanquish S and while I'd really like the GTS for value and new car for "family" leasure use, the Vanquish really stands out on the design..

They have got about as much as they can out of this shape and to my mind, beginning to look like warmed over food. If they could find the money, time to move on

I can spot and differentiate a Vanquish Mk1, DBS, DB9, Rapide and V8 Vantage on the road... But with the new Virage, new DB9 and now this, I have no idea any longer...

Plus, the new DB9 looks like the Virage.

    There's no Virage for 2013.

So what do you think about the car??

I'd be interested to know where AM are going dynamically, visually seems pretty clear.

I can't get into detail for the time being (there's an embargo and you'll notice there are no reviews available on the car at the moment), but I absolutely love it.

I'll be happy to get into it after my stories start publishing next week.

Here's another photo I shot on the weekend. Very interesting paint. It was a flat pearl white. I do think the Volcano Red car I drove was simply stunning.

It looks OK but dated. I think i first saw that design in 2004...

The original Vanquish was something else.

I think its HOT, but my concern would be why AM decided not to go with a DCT on a $300k+ car??

The market has determined that traditional manuals are going away, but why only offer a slushbox?

The gearbox is probably from ZF, same as the Jag XK and the DB9/DBS. It's really good, don't see why they should replace when it works very smooth in auto and also does a nice job with the paddles.

I really want to try the DCT in SLS AMG and 458 Italia to see how it differentiates from the DCT systems in ordinary V.A.G. cars...

The DCT in the SLS AMG is not anywhere near as good as the 458, IMHO.
The Ferrari just has the right feel, travel, etc.

The McLaren MP4-12C is good, better than the SLS AMG, but not as pleasantly tactile as the 458.

Not yet driven a DB-9 or Virage with their ZF auto, but will reserve judgment for that time..

Love the interior. The DBS has my favourite exterior.

As for the stats, naturally when the likes of ferrari f12 is the rival this obviously looks like a tame performer in contrast, but truth be told 565 ponies is a lot.

To those that have driven it, is this the same as the craptastic old paddle boxes like the older astons or is this new flappy anywhere near as good as a ferrari dct? The gearbox is the only thing in this car that worries me, I'm not the biggest fan of their flappies in the v8 vantage, and I've been told the old vanquish flappy was quite awful.

Sounds great to me, I would wish they offered a manual but the sales figure disagrees with me.

I take it you don't understand that the Vantages use an automated single clutch while the V12s use the automatic.

The transmission in the Vanquish works great. Full manual control and blips the throttle for rev matched downshifts.

I was not too certain. Thanks for clearing that up. I have been in a older vanquish, and that gearbox made me fear for my life. The v8 vantage sportshift I was given a ride in was a bit jerky as well, compared to the f430s f1(the only ferrari I have been in).

I have never been in a db9 or dbs or virage, and naturally not in the new vanquish. Thanks for clearing that up.

In light of the new info, me gusta

I saw a Virage in the showroom and forgot to note the colour, but my wife loved it and I don't think I've seen anything quite like it...an off white with a light purple or lilac (I know sissy colour) tint that was beautiful. Do you happen to know the exterior colour we saw? thanks
