    Hi guys,
I ordered my 458 back in mid september 2011. And until now I am still waiting for the car. I am starting to lose my patient. I was promised delivery date of second quarter of 2012. Any suggestion on what should i do in this case. At this point I am ready to cancel my order and take my deposit back.

My question is how long do normally it took for the car to arrive to the dealership from the moment we put a deposit. Thanks

    David

Did you just place a deposit to get in line or did you completely spec and order your car and pay the non-refundable deposit ?

I suspect the former in which case your dealer just hasn't had enough cars allocated - what is their story ? Most folk wait about three or four months from it going into build

    What did the dealer say???!!

Each dealer handles things in their own way, but typically, when you provide the dealer with a deposit, you're essentially waiting in line for "your turn" to provide your final spec and for the dealer to place your order with the factory.

How many people were in front of you when you gave them your deposit?

How many people were in front of you in the second quarter of 2012?

How many people are in front of you NOW?

Mine was 13 months but most of that time was waiting for a build slot. Of the 13 months, 8 were waiting for the build slot. Car took another 4 months for production, shipping etc. 1 month delay because I wanted the then brand new CF bumber on the car. Ask your dealer if you car has entered the production cycle and is so, when. If you didn't get a call to come in and finalize your order specs, no further changes allowed...it hasn't begun the production cycle and you're still waiting for a build slot. Hope this helps.

I been waiting 26 years still no Ferrari , maybe even longer because I am sure I wanted a Ferrari when i was inside the womb lol...be patient man! it will be here soon and then you will be glad you did not cancel the order. I think this car is well worth the wait.

What stage is the car in currently?

ask the dealer to give you an update of where it is in the build process. I am sure it will come soon...then all this will be forgotten.

What do you mean by "ordered"?

And what the dealer says are needed for any us to have an opinion on what you should do...

cancel completely - -or shop around and buy a used one - -there are several to choose from.

should be reasonable pricing due to winter months coming

Hi David, I assume you ordered your car from FSV as you lived in San Jose. I speced mine and put a deposit a month before you. I received my car on 6/22/2012, but my car was mistakenly air flown that saved about 6-8 weeks. Plus the factory was closed for almost a month on August. I would ask the dealer to check on the status. Don't give up at the last minute. Unfortunately we're living in a region that has very high demand for this car. Our wait is considerably fast with just a little over a year. FSV is honest and they try very hard to satisfied their customers as much as they can. Also they don't get pay until the car is delivered. Wait to hear good news from you.

Yes i ordered my car from Jason at FSV, I visited him last month to check the status on the car, and I also did some minor adjustment on the option. So I am assuming the car was assemble as of right now. I just wanted to make sure i get the car before the end of the year. Jason mentioned he can fly the car down for an extra charge of 6-7k. You are very lucky to have your car delivered by air. i geuss all i can do is waiting....

I already went to the dealer to make some minor adjustment, so does this make my car entered the production line. And how long should i wait till the car is done. 4 months?

Deposits are not usually required did he tell you what status the car is in? .If you made minor changes its in 10.I made some changes and it delayed my car each time you make a change its back of the line Excampionario makes the wait even worst do to the custom ordered changes which is what happened in my case

You shouldn't be able to make any further changes just before the car begins the production phase, I believe. Ask your dealer what the build date is for the car and add ~ 4 months to that.

As has been said, there is approximate and actual production dates. And in both cases enough wiggle room to make your head spin around. As I posted elsewhere, Ferrari's Italian computer updates to FNA and then to dealers not usually done in real time. Kind of makes you wonder what the point is. Anyway, "official" status codes Ferrari uses are:

White 10: Order actually accepted by Ferrari N/A
Red 10: No changes to order allowed. Car is locked and loaded
Stage 20: Car actually in factory
    Stage 70: Car completed
Stage 90: Car waiting to be shipped
Stage 93: Car in transit to dealer

My memory for these numbers may be slightly off so any corrections to my post certainly welcome. But, the point is, your dealer should know status even if slightly off. If car is not red 10 or beyond, then it is not "really" in production.

My dealer FOA is excellent. I was in first wave of non-refundable deposits for spider. Ferrari N/A even took initiative on their website in the "my garage" section to post that order date was 11/23/11.
It didn't go Red 10 until 2 1/2 weeks ago. Allocation, options, who knows what delays things. Not to mention August. Also, my 458 coupe was flown over July 2010 at no cost to me. But car delayed by more than a month as Ferrari SpA never did PDI. So FNA had car for weeks sorting out issues before sending. Ended up being longer than by water!

So, go to your salesman and just ask what stage car is in. It won't be right, but at least you have a nebulous starting point to work with!! 4 months from red 10 is more or less correct as has been stated previously. Just hang in there. Best

Are you getting the build status codes from the Dealer? :

    10 - Orders accepted (Red 10 = No Changes)
20 - Chassis assembly (at Scaglietti)
    30 - Painting
    40 - Assembly line (dash/wiring/interior/options)
    50 - Assembly line (engine/transmission)
    60 - Finishing
    70 - Testing (road/track)
    85 - Storage
    90 - Water (intransit)
    92 - PDI completed
    93 - Shipping to dealers
    94 - Dealer stock
    94 - Red - retailed
    95 - Submit to factory

do you know at what point the car is at?
