Never really cared for one, never dreamed of owning one - always called them Italian Trash, Italian Flash. My friend owned/owns many and to hear the horror stories of his F50 sitting in a shop for almost a year so that the synchros could be rebuilt did not sound practical to me.

But then life changes, I adopt a child and also get an invite to drive a California for the day. Wow how practical, back seats, subtle lines, not flashy and a big trunk :) I was friggin hooked, virtually threw the keys of my ZR1 to the dealer.

The ordering experience and dealership was over the top. People get sick of me blabbering about it but you really do understand that this is something very special. And then it sinks in; who cares about the 0-60 and others #s published in the back of car magazines. It is just a way to make you feel better and justify not owning a Ferrari.

It is my daily driver and totally pisses off the other dads in Minivans dropping off their kids to school :)

An excellent thread and it is my baby's first birthday today. I cannot believe I have had it for a year, still feels like yesterday picking it up. The car I mean, I love my kid, but fortunately the wife does not read this forum.

    Why?

This pretty much says it all. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JaF9J-TQjxo&feature=player_embedded[/ame]

Because I can remember flipping out as a kid the first time I saw a Ferrari driving down PCH. Then watching "Magnum P.I.", and BIG TIME because of "Miami Vice".

I own Ferraris purely for the driving experience, their competition heritage, and the beautiful design and sound. The attention is an unfortunate side effect. Originally, Ferrari sold cars to support their racing efforts, while others like Porsche raced cars to advertise their street products. For Enzo Ferrari it was about the racing efforts building on his time with Alfa Romeo. The feedback is just sensational compared to most other cars, IMO.

I like the 612, it's a shame it's around $100K+ over my budget for a car at the moment. :(

But the Maserati Granturismso isn't. ;)

"The line, the style, the power..." was actually an Alfa Romeo slogan many years ago but for me it sums up the Ferrari experience (line=heritage), everything in one package.

Both my brother and I were taught by our father to appreciate automobiles at a young age. The passion of automobile is something that we all shared. Needless to say, this lead to the love of Formula One.

But putting all that aside, the truth is that IMO, Ferrari builds the most wonderful and beautiful cars and I wanted to own one.

Because I wanted it -- in very particular a 3x8. There's really no other reason to own anything.

Because I bought into all the stuff...

    Mr. Ferrari... he's a legend
Formula one - its the best, and Ferrari has been in it the whole time
Because when I was a kid, Ferrari was THE car... still is!
They look so cool, they are works of art

When i was a kid we used to go to Watkins Glen for the GP, and we used to always see Ferrari's in the wild... and they were so cool!!! and i guess mostly becuase my dad revered them!

Nothing in this world sounds, feels, and excites all senses compared to a Ferrari. They are the best.

Because my wife said not to!

All right, I love the sound, feeling of the ride and the shallow side of me, "it makes me feel good!"

I love the fact that the cars have a little edge to them, and there seems to be so many entry levels once you take the dive. There is always something more you can buy next!
Ferrari leaves you with a burning desire to upgrade...unless your Armen!
