I don't have too much hope for my Mavs this year. They're going to get off to a slow start because Dirk is out 6 weeks thanks to knee surgery. The absence of Kidd and Terry are going to be felt throughout the season.

Around the league, I'm anxious to see how the Lakers will do with Dwight and Nash. The Knicks also may be a power in the east this year.

Life-long Lakers fan here (Inglewood, holla'! :D), but I'm still not sold on 'em yet for the following reasons:

    - injury/injuries can be devastating for them
    - 6th man? Antawn Jameson, hmm...
    - BENCH, BENCH, BENCH

During Phil Jackson's hey-day w/ Shaq & Kobe, the bench was solid & full of key role-players who delivered.

Also, it takes time for challenges/adversity to be overcome thru trialz & tribz. It took the Heat one season to adapt & mold, especially when against the wall & challenged. The Thunder have been there, learned that. So, unless the Lake'show truly have some sort of bench- I'm not so sure they'll live up to expectations this season.

I'm hoping its the Sixers.....not sure they will be good enough but they have improved considerably.

I don't see the Knicks being anything more than above average. Carmelo is a star, just not in the way Lebron and Wade are (I bring those guys up because they're always mentioned together). Stoudemire is a shell of his former self and not nearly as athletic as he used to be. And Tyson Chandler is strictly a defensive player & rebounder.

I think the Nets will be one of the top teams in the east.

I'm a Laker fan so you know I'll be watching every single game this year, but I have to say I'm a little scared of the Clippers. They're DEEP and all their young guys are improving. The only downside of being so deep is distributing minutes. Good luck with that coach Vinny!
