What are you saying/asking? You start in neutral and cannot get out of park? What happens when you put it in reverse or first and touch gas pedal? Best

Or do you mean, "How can I get it into neutral without starting the car?" Assuming you shut it off with the car in gear, it will stay in gear (with the park brake on) until you turn on the ignition.

If you shut it off with the car in neutral, there will be no brake on and the car can roll. That is called "car wash mode." Be careful with this.

Everything is electrical. The days when you could turn the brake on/off or in/out of gear with the car shut off are gone forever, it seems.

I'm trying to get the car into neutral without starting it. The situation is the car is parked outside my 1 1/2 yr olds bedroom an she has the window open.

Same situation as if I were trying to steal my parents car when I was younger. Neutral, roll it out of the driveway... Turn on an go

Car wash mode and place a wheel stop behind one of the tires? Then when you want to pull out, remove the tire stop, roll car back, fire it up, and go. Safety? Theft?

You'd have to put the car in neutral and then turn it off. It's the only way. Be sure to wedge your tires to ensure that the car does not roll back when you leave it. To be honest, it does not seem particularly safe to me and I would NOT do it myself.

Ah yes. You definitely don't want to wake your little one with the roar of the 458. This is only the beginning of the compromises you will make for your kids. Still it is worth it.

It shouldn't roll if you engage the parking brake. I'm not sure that I understand the problem.

If the car rolls when in neutral, I hope it moves very slowly when a block is removed. I suspect you don't worry about "chasing" a car. Best

When I park my 458, I need to move it by hand as I only have one inch of room in front and back of both my cars in the garage (it is tight!). The only way I can move the 458 by hand is to put it into neutral when the engine is running. It is, AFAIK, not possible to put the 458 into neutral when the engine is off.

Can't you turn the car partially on, (accessory only), pull both paddles to put the car in N?

then let it roll backwards or whatever, then come to a complete stop, push button, and start it up?

Really? Take a wrench to it? I don't think that's what Drew was looking for. And the engine will still be in gear.

@m.roberts: your method will not put the car into N. The 458 parks in gear and it needs the engine running to shift gears. Unless I am very much mistaken.

Yup, instructions are on page 206. It's also used to shift the car into neutral if the battery is dead.

How many Ferrari owners does it take to screw in a light bulb? Sounds like we are destined to live in the dark (lol). Best

I finally figured out how to receive a phone call via blue tooth. Took 1 1/2 years. Light bulb is next.
