I was racing before I was old enough for a street license. I have very high standards for the handling and responsiveness of anything I drive.

A Ferrari is the ultimate interface between driver and road.

The EVO might have some higher limits, but the Ferrari is still a more all-around versatile tool for raging in the face of the laws of dynamics. ;)

A vehicle is a machine designed to go, stop, and turn. No machine I've seen does that with more versatile excellence than a Ferrari.
(Although the Alfa Tipo 75 was pretty close.)

So if nobody knew what it was, I'd still drive it.
If it wasn't as pretty, I'd still drive it. (As evidenced by my owning a butt-ugly EVO. ;))

Heck, my insurance agent had never heard of most of my cars. :p

because it is art on wheels.

i went to a bondurant course years ago when there was still a track at bridgeport. and the instructor told me there were only 2 cars that could come to the track right out of the box - porsches and ferraris. at the time i had a porsche. so when i sold it, my next target was ferrari. bot a 348 which was the worst car i ever owned. but the thrill was there. so i bought a 512tr, which i still have today. and the rest is a love affair and infatuation. its hand made. its unusual. its art. it sounds great. it is made by a person with passion. it is the best there is. so if you can afford it, why not.

Because it has been a dream of mine since I can remember. Going to Italy on holiday in the 1970's we would occasionally see one. They were always associated with playboys, castello owners, beautiful women, Formula 1, speed, sound and beautiful designs. It was like those people who owned them lived in the movies, not in real life. Being a small kid, I was just in awe of them. I still remember a Boxer passing us at 250km/h or thereabouts on the German Autobahn round about 1980.

I never thought I would be able to buy one, but a fortunate position in gold has allowed me to realise that dream. It has not disappointed in any way, except maybe that some people mistake you for a poser. I am not interested in impressing people, I am interested in the shape, the engineering, the history, the mystique. I drive them for myself, although sharing with other people who 'get' it is wonderful too.

Back in the late 1970s my father took me to see a car he had seen earlier in the day. It was a red 308 GTS. I thought it was the most beautiful car I had ever seen. It became the car of my dreams and stayed that way for 30 years. Every time I saw a Ferrari it was simply an amazing day for me!!

Finally, in 2009 I realized that dream buying my own 308 GTS even getting a QV which I thought was a huge bonus. I have loved every minute of it - even when it sits still in my garage.

When I take it out - often I use it as a daily driver - the experience becomes even that much richer. The sounds, the smells, the feedback that I get from the car is simply astonishing to me. I havent driven many other Ferraris, so cant compare to those, but its incredible and unlikely that I could put the experience into words.

I always loved the passion the cars incited in people, the effect of the name,, and then Miami vice, the Daytona then testarossa, the cars made those guys so cool. Eventually I managed to get there with my first, a 575, and have loved them ever since. It definitely helped with chicks, but I like to think I have the cars for me and driving, but the is a little part of me that smiles smugly when others see it and lust after it

Ferrari is the quintessential vehicular transport. Nothing, and I mean nothing compares to their elegance, beauty, history, and the sheer pleasure of driving them. I enjoy going out for a drive very early in the morning on Sunday when there are no other cars on the road. To me it's not about the drama, envy, and opposite sex.

Now if I could just afford a 288 GTO. :)

Very nice ! No wonder I have an affinity to Saabs or anything else with Aero nomenclature.

When I was a maybe four I remember being on a flight we had that couldn't land in Montreal and ended up in Newark. I remember the Checker Aerobus that took us and other stranded passengers to the hotel. SO frigging NEAT I couldn't believe we were going to get a ride in this giant dachshund on wheels.
It was the first time I saw three locks on a hotel room door too.....

Sounds good to me! :D Any more automotive early Sunday mornings left in the year for you to enjoy or is it a wait until the warmer weather of next year now?

I really hope you manage to get one, you've certainly been working hard enough for it. :)

    All the best,
    Andrew.

I woke up back in early March 2008... said to the wife, "Honey? We got any red cars
out in the garage and whatnot?" and she hollered back, as I was still in bed on the
second floor and she was in the kitchen cooking some FINE turkey sausage (cuz we
try to keep Kosher and all) and eggs... damn she makes fine eggs, "uh, no! We just
got my old SUV and that German car of yers and all like that!". So I hollered back,
"well, hell woman - gonna buy me one of them there Feeeee-rar-eees and whatnot."

And that's what I done.... still out there in the garage by the SUV and that German car.

Yup... that's why I done it. Wanted a red car and whatnot.

Ever see taledega nights. "I just wanna go fast" plus it looks great, is uncompromised, you actualy have to know how to drive to use it(boxer), its like a living thing, the motor sounds great and is awesome. Its a total immersion experience at speed, clears the mind, wanted one since I could speak, it feels good.

Good call. Definitely something pure about John Denver's music and the Ferrari soul. I would add Sweet Surrender and Poems. Prayers and Promises to the playlist.

I love LOVE my 355 as I think it's one of the best 10 models ever... It handles like a slot kar and kinda go karty F1 in it's layout! Handling is just telepathic... Luv the sound and looks too!

    I own one because I can't afford a McLaren or a Lambo I like! ... LOL
