This was the car at Gullwing for 135k. I had the car flat bedded up to Motor Classic where
I drove the car and it needed a lot of work. At least 100k restoration kind of work. Depending on how far down the rabbit whole I was willing to go that is.

It smoked down the whole street the steering box had a lot of play in it. The car has never had a real paint job. Three different colors of paint on top of one another. It does say they did the cylinder heads over so that is good but there was rust and leaks everywhere under the car. Once we put it on the lift it was a Hell no. The car did sell about 2 weeks later, then I saw it for sale again. I think it was the Netherlands? I am sure they worked on it and fixed most of the issues I saw it had. Either way should be fun to see what someone will pay for it at auction. Given what the market has shown 135K could have been a good deal 6 months ago.

I inquired about this car before I bought #4533 in 2010 and I spoke to the elderly gentleman who had owned it for almost 30 years...when i asked if he could email me some information and photos of the car he said "I dont know about those computer mail things but send me your address and I will send you photos via the US Postal Service. Please mail them back though!" I said ok, and he sent them to me via snail mail...when i got the photos they were old kodak prints, i looked on the back and they had the date "1991" on them! LOL! I promptly mailed them back to him and notified him I was going to pass on the car (mostly bc #4533 became available to me)...

wbaeumer - hate to do this to you, but please take a look at post 49....

I finally got to compare my list to Boudewijn's and learned of the demise of a few GTEs. I also have the following comments:

2301 GT is a Cal Spyder, not a GTE

2367 GTs engine was used for an LM replica. 2367 GT is still alive and well as a GTE, using engine 1601, though it did have engine 1663 for a while, until that was sold to the owner of Cal Spyder 1663 GT.

3539 GT is an SWB, not a rebody

3661 GTs engine went into a TR. It is now using GTE engine 3421 and has GTO style vents.

    4935 GT is a Lusso

    Boudewijn,

    IP20 should be 1P-2D (TX/USA: antique vehicle)
    1000SF61 is 3545, not 3585
    ASA235 should be AZA235
    LSR250 is 4163, not 4263.

I assume 4669 is not a SWB rebody, but a complete fake using this number although the real car may still exist.

A fake spider was listed on ebay as "4017" but I doubt if that corresponds to a GTE serial number. Same goes for 2527GT, 196 replicas are usually scratch built around a Fiat-engine, instead of a Ferrari 250 frame.

    Best wishes, Kare

The car just sold at London RM for 140pounds = $224k. Wow looks like that 135k was a deal considering that after a 100k restoration the new owner will have spent way over 300k. Good times for us I guess.

Outstanding! I lost track of that one a long time ago. Do you have any photos or contact info so that I can update the GTE Register?

Welcome to the club! The car looks terrific. PM me and I can help you with some of the history of the car and maybe you can fill in some of the holes.

I knew both Cdn owners well and have driven this car. Original colour light green metallic with beige int. Engine failure back in the 80s fixed by Cdn dealer. Was told by one owner car belonged to Pininfarina.
