    With the level of conspiracy theorists in this thread, why are you spending a second of time following a sport you believe is fixed? Much less posting on forums about it?

    I have a lot of respect for JT and what he did at Ferrari but he was also involved in legal issues with Ferrari spare parts or something. Also one of the reasons he was so successful for Ferrari is he got things done and worked many times with the FIA in ensuring Ferrari's result stood.

    Therefore I can still respect what he did without having to believe he is a saint. No businessman is a saint IMO.
    Good points and to be fair I don't take much notice anymore because I believe it is BS. I guess the fact that Alonso had a chance this year suckered me in.

    I am well aware I have a love hate relationship with F1. Club racing is so much better in so many different ways, but I cannot talk about that when I am bored at work because you have to actually watch club racing to be able to talk about it. I very rarely watch a F1 race anymore because I'd rather simply go to sleep it is so boring ... but I'm still addicted to the engineering.

    Surely you understand that RB has no interest in underfuelling the car. So you'd also understand they never would do something like that deliberately. And they didn't. Autosport.com reports shortly after qualifying:

    If Bernie wanted to make the TV show more interesting and gave them an $ incentive then maybe they would. Lets face it, having Vettel race through the field did make the race more interesting AND did help Alonso, maintaining interest in the WDC.

    It really is pretty simple. Just follow the $.

    Why would F1 be the one place in big business where corruption isn't part of the game?

    And don't tell me that the "sports" part makes it sancro sanct. Or I'll have to bring up the selection process for the Olympics or the FIFA Worldcup.

    It would be nothing for Bernie to offer huge amounts of money to teams, maybe even millions, to fix a race or two ... and heck if they play the game well they will still win the WDC anyway, just in the last race instead of the 3rd last race. Everybody is happy and we all have been sucked into "another" exciting season.

    There's no need for such payoffs nor grand conspirisies.
    Bernie is far too smart for such petty grifting at this point.
    All is required is for the rule makers to stifle any technical advantages as they occur and maintain parity.
    You don't use a gun when a pen will do.

    True, and thus I am expecting RB's new rear floor to be outlawed soon. The last race showed the car is way ahead of the opposition and Bernie must be worried that the audience will now be thinking: No contest anymore, this year is over. And if the RB is like this at the start of next year I won't bother watching ...

    Rather be home working on my shed extension. I've been digging foundation trenches by hand for months. Now completing a drawing for my engineer to redesign the foundations around a few large tree roots ... council requirements.

    As long as he has a full grid to meet his TV obligations he doesn't give a damn who wins or when. Sure, he'd like a tight fight to the end - who doesn't - But he's not about to go paying off wheel changers to screw up like you suggest.

    Whoa!...... [Hijack alert]

    Dunno much about the Olympic selection process in your country, but mostly it seems pretty fair to me - If I make the qualy time/height etc and am in my country's best 2-3, I get in.

    The FIFA World cup has maybe the fairest qualification process there is - You win your qualy pool, you get in. One could argue the pools aren't "level", but that's down to geography, not conspiracies...... What's your problem with it? [Not arguing BTW, just interested why you think it's ****ed up?]

    We don't know that do we Ian. We can only assume either way.
    You still haven't red up on this have you Ian? Even in third spot he would he hampered, limited to running the pace of the car in front. I believe the team thought on a street track with likely safety car periods he could win with that critical setup change. He could not change the setup if he qualified third. He would have used more fuel with the wrong gearing and no pace, just like Webber did ... and where did Webber finish?

    Please do the research, the RB needed that setup change to be competitive as pole was not possible.

    you have to be joking right. FIFA is the most corrupt. The seasoned countries have it easy and for others it is impossible. Australia proved this by changing their pool ... it is who you are not your ability that matters. The in club or f off.

    I'll concede I don't know 100% for sure. BUT, I'd stake everything that neither Bernie nor anyone else is "bribing" anyone to screw up in order to maintain "interest". These are some of the most competitive teams in the world and would (and do) *howl* (loudly) if anyone tried to take away any perceived advantage. Let alone tell them to deliberately screw up. Can't and doesn't happen IMO.


    Oh, I hear what you're saying. It's just that you're completely wrong (Again, IMO ;)) I *guarantee* they'd rather he started in 3rd than last. That they changed the configuration as a result of the penalty is, as I've already said, simply smart engineering.
