    Good to see you posting again,Terry. The only real war ace that I ever met who would talk about his war years was Larry Blumer..."Scrappy". He could keep you going for hours about his experiences in the 9th AF and he had photos, medals, and records to substantiate it. He was the kind of fighter pilot that every CO would want in his outfit, aggressive, quick on the trigger, dedicated, and would rather fight than eat. He was a captain with 7 victories plus several that were not recorded...like shooting down a Spitfire that jumped him over Germany. He went through 5 P-38's.
    Your dad sounds like an interesting guy, Terry.

    One of my instructors told me after I screwed up in a Stearman, " BOY! this airplane is looking for a chance to kill you! Give it the smallest opening and it will take it!" I have never forgotten that.

    I got it. I didn't wash out but I remembered the the harsh lessons that I got from a wheezened old survivor. God Bless Him.
