Actually I have a house out east and the far end of Island, although I was not there during storm suffered no water damage ..The dune houses were all dry as I was there last weekend...the epi center was Atlantic city...I have friends on south shore of Long Island, closer to NYC..Long beach to be exact...who have 2 story houses, with entire 1st floor missing except for studs..this storm will take years to get over

I've found that MS Office Picture Manager (2007) does a great job with simple resizing. Just set it at 800x600 max. Here's an example: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=141728145&postcount=10075
i used the simple but effective freeware "irfanview". the only thing to do was to set the quality from 90% to 80% when resizing.
