In BIG TEXs profile picture, is he the guy with shades on? Just in case I spot him at the track this weekend. I guess its so much for the BIG Barbeque on Friday. I sent Tex a PM a week ago, still no reply. Image Unavailable, Please Login
He & a couple of other "big time" posters I believe - Dunno what happened, but they're all back now I think. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that's Mario (Andretti) on the left, Big-Tex on the right..... (?) Cheers, Ian
That's Mario Andretti haha. We can plan something for Saturday evening. What general areas are people staying in? Close to the downtown area? South? North? Out by the lake?
Alan (BigTex) will be busy at the race volunteering however I did speak to him a few days ago. He did mention something was planned for Saturday evening but not definite yet. I put a call in to him this morning but haven't heard back. I'll keep you posted if I hear something, I'll be staying with family on South Congress so keep me in the loop if anything is planned. Will
If Tex has something brewing for Saturday night would you guys be interested in meeting up Saturday at the track before qualifying kicks off?
I will be at the track all three days. If there is a meetup planned at the track, I will be there. Hey Rob - any Key Chains for us Houston guys? I am staying in Bastrop, so anyone in the area on Thursday evening - I plan on eating and getting a few beers - The Roadhouse is a great place. I do not plan on driving into Austin, but will keep an eye on this post - so Maybe. my
I am game for a meet up too...preferably Saturday eve....I will be around Lagovista too (North shore of Lake Travis)....and will drive South on 183 to park the truck at the Park/Ride lot just North of 71..
We could do something by the observation tower at the track, very easy to find. Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2
It's getting closer guys! I'll be there all three days too... observation tower seems like a good option.
We look forward to meeting up with the group at some point too! So, Rob, you're not going to make it down? I figured Don Rose would probably be there too. Hope so! Randy
I think Don is going. Heck no I'm not going, it is going to be a cluster. After going to Indy and Montreal for years I don't know why anyone would want to choose Austin 1st year over Montreal. Montreal is 50% the cost and 2x the fun and race. I'm not interested in being a 1st, however, I may go in future years. It is good for Texas and I love F1, just personal. heck, I was born in Austin.
I was trying to figure out a spot, and that sounds like a good one. What about 1:30 Saturday after the F1 Qualifying? It would be during the Ferrari Challenge race. Or 2:15 after that race? We are turn 12 so not a long hike, but I think the turn 2 people may have to cross some pedestrian bridges to get there. Any thoughts out there ?
Yeah, Indy in July was really hot, but Montreal was a beautiful place to visit and see the race. This is going to be a traffic nightmare. I'm sure it'll be better as time goes on, but I just couldn't not go to an F1 race that's this close to home. It's going to take a serious sense of humor and a large amount of patience to make it through with a smile on our face! I'll do it though just to hear those cars in person again.
OK starting the thread now.....I got 4 sets of tickets and gave them all away I am WORKING!! For COTA!! LOL!
