Found this one in the Rhode Island Craigslist...looks to be a '71. 10,900 miles would be a great thing, but my speculation is that it sat...estate sale. (Admitted Craigs-list-aholic in my search for an XKE Roadster :) ).

You can never tell if that mileage is a good or a bad thing for that car..
appears to be not kept up at all..
So..figure another 100 g's to make the car match the mileage..
If that mileage is even correct

Kind of pricey for a Series II OTS. Asking $65k?

A yellow one, at that. (Pale Primrose?)

    Wow, hard to please crowd!

100G's to get right? Really? Spent on whatexactly? An E is as simple as a Lego or Meccano-box. Parts are mostly not expensive. So, I figure 75 K labour then? Please enlighten me, I'm up for contracting the job.

Yes, it's an SII, and yes, it's pale Primrose. Whilst personally I don't see the first as a negative (if you actually want to drive it), the colour is not really for me.

The mileage though, if genuine, will be hard to beat, everything on this car should be original OEM. I rather have any properly re-commissioned car than a restored one.

    Wrong?

I guess it depends on one's individual level of expectation...here's virtually the same exact car, and ironically enough formerly owned by an F-chat member who recently commented on the price...$137,000...

I don't know, to me, it would be a matter of how often the car was serviced and the over-all condition. If it sat, that's a $40-45k car, if it was maintained and cared for, $65k might be a steal...test drive and inspection would tell the story.

My Bad...IMO....you could drive it as is, or take it through a 100 G concours resto,
A car with that certified mileage deserves a concours restoration..

Oh yea...This is my old car

heres my scoop on e types-

just lost my magnificent yellow 71 II ots in sandy storm. purchased for $33000 from hi end dealer yr and half ago fully restored except for rust holes in drivers floor and trunk. those replacement parts cost me about $750 and labor maybe $3000. new wood steering wheel about $300 installed. changed fluids. that was all i did.

drove it every week in dry weather for about 25 miles. car did very well in local car shows. overall it was beautiful to look at and easy to live with but drove like the archaic thing it is. i would have loved to sell it for $50000 in few yrs but obviously wont get that chance now.

    hope that helps with pricing.

When you say "lost" you mean can't be salvaged? Like you can't buy back from the insurance company and repair, or the damage is too much and the car will be parted?

That sucks, but glad you are well.

There was a very similar one on Mecam a few months ago with like 29K miles sold at no reserve and it would not crack 39K.

What a spread in pricing! Makes me think about my next car though, if a good SII OTS can be had for less than 50k USD. They remain fabulous cars.
