My 93 512 TR's ac compressor makes a clicking/clacking noise at start up. After the engine is warm the noise stops. Is the clutch on the compressor on the way out? Could I remove the compressor and have it rebuilt? I don't think the noise is coming from any other source. I place my hand on the compressor and can feel each loud clack. Thanks

Likely just the belt making noise until it worms up and becomes a little more pliable. My 88 TR does the same thing for a few minutes on cold start. After it stops making noise, if you shut it off and then restart is it there?

But, yes, come on over to the TR section and be surrounded by fellow flat-12 owners. There is a lot of good tech info known/shared over there.

this is what happens when a platic belt slips and gets glazed-it snaps when cold for a couple on minutes...it will fail sooner rather than later...fwiw
