That's why I never go to any sporting event the first time they hold it. I'll wait until at least next year and hope that they work the bugs out.

Just got on shuttle at fairgrounds. Moved very fast once here, but took 30 minutes to move the two miles from the interstate into parking. The police liked to just watch the lights change instead of actually directing traffic. Will report back how long it takes to get to the track.

My experience same as above at 845am. No traffic at all til the fairgrounds on Decker Rd. Terrible traffic control from that point forward.

That's not very nice!.... Looked like a pretty damn good crowd for a Friday. Speed just said estimated at 65K with up to 100k expected today (Sat). Better than I was expecting TBH.

    Cheers,
    Ian

Need to rephrase my terrible traffic control to zero traffic control. 1 hr to get down Decker Ln. All while sitting through TRAFFIC LIGHTS with no police direction. Unbelievable. Complete joke. People cutting in out etc.

    Good to hear!

Hopefully they're getting their act together and will do even better tomorrow.

Seems to me some of the whining is just that - Whining...... Relax, take a deep breath and go with it. (I know that's easy for me to say sitting here on the couch.....)

The busses are very well organized. Amazingly quick through the queue and then aboard. Driving time from expo about 25 min.

Lines for food and beverage were so long that most people had to choose between watching the events on the track or getting some refreshments. If you stood in line long enough to get food, drink, or souvenirs etc., you missed half an hour or more of the track events. Crazy!

But, the rest of CoTA seemed well organized, especially considering it was the first race day.

To my surprise my commute from hotel to expo to track and track to expo to hotel went much quicker today than yesterday. I guess they made some changes in the logistics department. I ate a big breakfast so I was able to skip the lines for food today, only had to wait about ten minutes yesterday to grab some lunch.

I was talking with one of the volunteers at the shuttle stop and he said that they did adjust the traffic plan based on yesterday.

Overall I would say that the traffic problems haven't been anywhere near what I and others were fearing. Hopefully they can figure out how to run food stands and merch stands more efficiently before next years race.

    Isn't it 130k capacity? 65k = half empty :p

It was 82k for Qual. Lets hope they work out the bugs for Sunday.

At 8:20 they started dropping off workers around the parking area to direct traffic. Soon after the flow picked up. They did bring in school buses from Dallas to help out.

The thing that irritates most of the people in line are the line jumpers that walk alone the edge of the line like they are looking for their friends or seem to be so engrossed in their phone conversation they missed the hundreds of people they just walked past.

All in all they seem to improve everyday. But still seem to run out of supplies, food and drink.
