Nice video. Kidston is such a pro. I watched him introduce 50 cars at Villa D'Este with history, marque background and details on each car- all with no notes. Oh, In 3 languages. Brilliant guy, a true ambassador. His professionalism and overall knowedge makes most of the mercenary experts out there look personally creepy . I am sure that dealing with him is like buying your Rolex next to the Ritz as opposed to buying it on Ebay. IMO....
Bacchelli and Villa did a great job on sorting out the previous and badly done body Image Unavailable, Please Login
Please could you elaborate on the above. Was 4675 re bodied after its factory re body to '64 shape? http://www.barchetta.cc/english/all.ferraris/detail/4675gt.250gto.htm
Is this the Chris Evans car, if so I saw it at the FOS and the bodywork looked in need of attention, the metal was cracking above the door frame and in various other places Whoops! just noticed the above link and yes it was his car. As I say it did not look good and was really in need of its restoration. Glad to see its been done. One quick point did that engine look smokey to anyone else in that video?
The car was sold earlier in the year to Switzerland and I assume this is why Kidsons are involved. It was originally a series 1 but crashed in the 63 Tour de France and subsequently rebodied by Scaglietti as a series two. Chris Evans aquired it from the Matsuda collection and somewhere along the way it was badly restored ( the nose in the picture is dreadful). Chris considered returning the car to a series 1 (many people prefer it but too common in my book !) but Classische preferred keeping the series 2 body and the end result looks fantastic. The sad thing is that the car was sold just before to reunion tour when GTO fever was at a pitch but the new owner did not participate
Thank you for your reply. Excuse me for being a bit thick but please can you tell me what was wrong with the nose? Had the car in its past had another accident that necessitated a repair to the nose that wasn't correct but has now been corrected by Bachelli and Villa as part of the recent Classiche restoration? Do you know the extent of the restoration, as I've heard of comprehensive, body off and mechanical Classiche restorations taking much longer than could have been spent if the car has been restored in the time between the FOS, when Streetrod saw it, and now?
Not spot on but very close to the original Does anyone have a picture of the original series 1 body ? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Compare the picture taken at the FOS to the picture from the Targa in 64 and you can see the obvious differences. No idea of the history or reason for why it was changed but I can say that the car did look very wrong. You are correct on the restoration as it was effectively done in two parts. Firstly the mechanics were done in 2010/2011 so the car could run up the hill at the 2011 FOS. Subsequently the car was sent back to have the body done. Part of the problem was that Bacchelli were very busy and could not take the car any earlier and not surprisingly the owner wanted to use it. Chris Evans sold the car shortly before the restoration was completed. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Interesting to see the addition of the three D slots on the bonnet. Was this the only series 2 to have it ?

I think it is largely irrelevant to discuss this case without knowing exactly how much needed to be replaced in period to keep this car racing - and in restoration to make it "original" again. I see this info as crucial for understanding if right choices have been made. I have noticed that those who are familiar with the case are mostly zipping up. Best wishes, Kare
So this is the GTO Chris Evans bought after selling a bunch of other great Ferraris? And now has sold this car?
