New Climax T51 F1 kit in 1/24th scale by Fernando Pinto. Very nice resin kits in the proper 1/24th scale. Also the BRM P57 is now available in a 1/24th scale kit by Pinto. Tom Tanner/Ferrari Expo 2013-Chicago March 2013 Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Finally I was fast enough on ebay and won the 1/12 2012 F1 Ferrari from CMM. While that cost me about $ 400, there are already built versions on ebay for $ 2k. I'd love to know what other F1 Ferrari models CMM is planning to release. They always mention that they're doing the first "mold" for a private collector. Sounds intriguing.
They are making some great subjects and the quality is much better now on most cars. I still hope they make some 1950's Panamericana Ferrari's. A 1/12th 340 Mexico in 123 colors would be great if they do it well!!! Here is a photo of the Hiro 917LH kit in 1/43rd scale. It's due out in December. I received the CMM 1/12th 312 1967 Monaco today and have to say the person who made the master is an artist. This is not a kit for a beginner. It has alot of resin parts and no directions, but most of the parts are pretty accurate. You will need to modify several items and also upgrade others. From what I see it will not be easy but a very nice model could be built from these parts. They I believe started with a 1/12th scale resin Italian kit of the 312, and did all the modifications to make the 1967 Monaco car. That took alot of work!! Kit includes grey resin parts, decals and a photoetch sheet. Very well done resin wheels/tires. If you are a advanced modeler this kit is well worth looking at. CMM have come along way. I hope they keep bringing us these great race car models. Tom Tanner/Ferrari Expo 2013-Chicago March 2013 Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Ha! I see you were the other guy who bought their kit on ebay. LOL Any pointers you have for making the model better, I'll be thankful for. However I won't start on this one for a long time.
Not sure yet, but buy some machined injector trumpets. Several companies make nice ones. CMM sold almost 20 of these on ebay alone!! They seem to do better on F1 cars.
More from FPP Modelos or F. Pinto models in 1/24th scale, a Matra MS80 1969 Jackie Stewart F1 kit!! This builds up into a very nice and accurate model as I already have one. FPP is also selling hand laced wire wheel/tire sets in 1/24th scale. They are pretty good and pre assembled with Pirelli, Dunlop and Englebert tires in different sizes. Check on Ebay...That seems to be the only place to get alot of the rare new model kits now, unless they are from Japan. HLJ/Hiroboy ect.has all the Japanese stuff. HSC (Historic Sports Cars) by Studio 27 Lola T70 MKIII 1967-68 in 1/24th scale kit is almost ready. Rather expensive at around $200.00+ with no motor. Good choice by HSC as a T70 MKIII has never been done very well in 1/24th scale. Some really bad kits were done, but nothing worth buying!! 5 versions to be made. Revell 1950 Oldsmobile Panamericana 1950 winner 1/25th scale kit. New tool. Very well done. Behind it is the Revell/Monogram 1953 Corvette kit with 1954 Pan Am decals. This was a 2004 release that I also helped research for them. Revell did forget the drivers name on the 1950 Old's even after I sent them pictures of the door but everything else looks very good. The Corvette needs red wire wheels. Tom Tanner/Ferrari Expo 2013-Chicago March 2013 Image Unavailable, Please Login
Fascinating. Can you tell us more about it or is this better for a discussion at the next Chicago Expo?
FPP is now doing a curbside 166 MM 1949 Lemans winner kit in 1/24th scale. Looks like they nailed the body shape slightly better than Hiro, although this does not have a motor. Also the seats look better shaped and the hand laced wire wheels look great and are finished, not photoetch parts. The big part, it's less than half the price! If you can live without a motor this is a good option. I might have to buy one now. I think its only a matter of time before they kit the 375 Plus 1954 Lemans winner and all their other models!! By the way, I have a set of the FPP pre WWII GP wire wheels and they are superb quality!! Tom Tanner/Scale Designs/Ferrari Expo 2013-Chicago March 23rd 2013 Image Unavailable, Please Login
