    Things don't always fail catastrophically and instantly. It sounds like it is completely plugged up now though.

    During the process of failure the cat ecu system doesn't kick in until it reaches running temp and won't shut the bank down until its warmed up. But now as a complete failure it just is off at the get go because it physically can't operate regardless of the warning system so no light and bank down when cold.

    I turned the battery off then restarted the car and let it idle for 12 minutes. It sounded rough at first then smoothed out. I just drove it and all the temps were normal and the car ran fine. Does this mean I have an electrical issue, or could it be something else? If it was the cats plugging up would it or could it act this way.

    It could but if its melted its melted so its unlikely but there is no rule book. If you say you did the reset procedure and are confident it runs good then this is very typical for the cat ecu problems previously described. I personally removed the entire system due to it being such an annoying piece of garbage.

    Drive the car and see what happens. If it kills the bank you need to check the cat temp at that moment and see if its significantly hotter than the other side. That would be a positive indication of a failed cat and the cat ecu system functioning correctly.

    Thanks for everyone's help but I have a feeling this problem is going to rear it's ugly head again. I just drove again, got everything good and hot, car ran great. I let it sit for a few minutes to heat Soak and drove it again,it ran perfect? From what I am hearing sounds like an electrical issue with the ecu. You mentioned that you got rid of the whole system. How? I have a 95 so everything I hear is that this is an easier car to mod so how would I go about removing this system. When I simply unplugged the ecu it lit up the slow down light. Could I put bypass pipes on and then leave the sensors plugged up but not actually screwed into anything?

    I had a problem last month where my car would start running on 4 cylinders and could not rev past 3000rpm. All of a sudden it would run fine for a few days and then it would happen again. I changed my fuel pump relays and have not had a problem in 500 miles.

    That test it to determine if you have a bad cat ecu. i.e. did the non-running bank switch sides when you switched cat ecus?

    It's a 95. It's easy enough to pull the code(s).
    Let it tell you what's wrong.
    And I would stay away from turning on & off the battery - doing that toasted my 3rd party alarm. Read the cels & then follow the procedure to clear them with the buttons.

    (BTW: my 95 it was the thermo sensor. Slowdown would light, the car would go into limp mode - one bank would shut down - then after a minute or two, it would power back up for a while, then limp mode...and so on. Of course the CELs would light with the bank down)
