yes, the rules have "relaxed" for sure. The two different classes was a good idea, though the selection process left much to be desired, as there were plenty of sandbagging Coppa Shell guys who wanted to hedge their podiums....if you look at the race results, and more importantly: lap times...you will see that they still need to shake out the top CS guys and make them run where they belong. Also, though he wasn't at the F1 support race, the points leader this year is Onofrio Triarsi, the 17 year old out of Florida. His dad (by same name) is the owner of Ferrari of Central Florida as well as Ferrari of Tampa Bay. You are not supposed to have an affiliation with a Dealership (due to the perceived bias) but clearly, they have allowed that...so the rules (not unlike ANY series) seem to be somewhat subject to interpretation at times, and outright overlooked at others.

Actually, Jerome...(all kidding aside here) what it should tell you is that these cars are not easy to drive fast...I frequently tell people it is called Ferrari CHALLENGE for a reason!

I thought they were fairly easy to drive. I tested a 458 Challenge at last years Cavallino track event and found it very predictable with great balance and incredible brakes

"Cheesy" was just my reaction to the tone of the piece, "hey this is some hard hitting investigative journalism right here." Also got a chuckle out of the statement that "he races $100,000 cars!" On a bad day, maybe he does.

I also found the story interesting, and recent. The FTC lawsuit moves along at its own pace, seems to be moving slowly, though not as slowly as the criminal proceedings against Greg Loles (remember him?), who stays in jail as his sentencing is repeatedly postponed.

    Gotcha.
Hey at least they were showing the Porsche when they said that!

The most interesting part, for me, was them showing Mrs. Tucker. In all the times I've seen Level 5 competing including speaking to Scott himself I have never before seen any sign of her.

I was not aware that Greg Loles was STILL in jail. I thought that during this extended sentence postponing [which I do not understand why] that he would have been free

Jerome, I don't think Loles ever tried for bail. He's been in jail continuously since his arrest, December 15, 2009.

    Loles has pleaded guilty.

Good story about his fifth postponement surveys the entire case:

Interesting thread, I saw them on I35 caravanning with a team of nice rigs heading home from the race Monday morning just outside of Austin.

that looks like 5th wheel or toterhome pull, not a transformer 18-wheeler.

It is a 5th wheel or toterhome. I saw it in the parking lot at COTA. It looked massive for not being an 18-wheeler.

I haven't followed this thread too closely to know everything and I don't have a side in this fight on if he's good, but at the races it sounded like he was at the top of his class for GT3. He was in the gold series which is the slower class based on car not skill. That's the how I understood it but that could be wrong.

They had a three vehicles in caravan. A bus, semi race trailer, & the 5th wheel. All wrapped with that same logo. That was the only photo I could get while driving.

Scott Tucker's day of reckoning at hand.

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/mobileweb/the-center-for-public-integrity/payday-lenders-agree-to-s_b_2411743.html

Meanwhile, Level 5 team manager Dagys says the team will not defend their P2 championship due to lack of competition in ALMS but (could) lease their cars out and do Le Mans.

According to one of my sources in Europe: "The Big Chief probably still has enough shekels in the till to go to France.

"Bouchut's CV has been doing the rounds with the various teams and the crew and Chief Engineer have also been looking around for work."

My question is, why is motorsport media so affraid of this story?

he is flush for money in road racing where money isn't so flush anymore. I also think they will hold off until convictions because that's the point the gravy train ends.

Still can't believe this guy is even in business. I've heard there are similar protections in Canada and it's causing some agita there too.

I'm all for entrepreneurial people, but doing it at someone else's expense - particularly when vulnerable - is disgusting.

doesn't pass the smell test a non-Indian starts a business that has to use the protections of an Indian tribe. that right there indicates premeditated they knew it was wrong beforehand and had to place it behind Indian protections.

Exactly. The AutoWeek piece was pathetic, making a point of how much Tucker has done for racing and how maybe we ought to mind our own business. No mention of Tucker's time in Leavenworth years ago ....?

dragging this one back to the top of the pile - if you are bored the motions to dismiss everything make for some interesting reading also the ones to get Mrs. Tucker out of the mix.
Search turtletalk.files.wordpress.com leagle.com or "Federal Trade Commission vs. AMG Services and you'll find all the filings.
Not a lawyer so I don't know why Level 5 is named as a defendant - surely they just received "sponsorship" from the alleged wrong-doing?

Another payday loan company was recently ordered to repay almost $1million for one of the same violations that Tucker's enterprise is accused of. Pretty small potatoes if the stories about AMG are true.

Wow. Forgot this thread was still going. Are there any new, juicy details?
It seems you cannot drive 1/4 mile in some parts of town without seeing a "Payday Loan" sign anymore. Weird.
