Take a look at the preproduction prototype in the the B&W image that I posted. I believe the mystery car has the same engine cover, with inboard lights (different units used at this point) and with the script "fiatABARTH750" placed in the same position. The rear pillars, however, are thinner as in the later production cars.

I'd want to vintage race it. But I'd leave the cosmetics as found.

I would clean the windshield but I would write the race number in the dust. :)

Just to prove me right - somebody is insisting that it is a Ferrari, and I said NO.

But, I don't really know what it is - with Penske/PPG markings, no less...

    Thank you.

New supercars seem to be coming out of the woodwork these days, don't they?

They've actually been around for awhile but are very low volume. They actually held the top speed record for a few years until the updated Veyron took it back.

The question that I always raise is, "What makes a car a supercar?"

Is it the styling? No, because anyone can design a sleek looking body.
Is it speed? No, because any monkey can make a car go fast.
Is it a leather interior? Uh, no.
Is it a high price tag? Well, all low-production, high-speed, low to the ground, sleek looking cars are expensive.

Even though the new Acura NSX is going to look like a Lambo, have a luxurious interior, and go fast, I highly doubt anyone is going to consider it a supercar. It's just going to be a sports car - just like the Corvette. I always think it's funny when they compare a Ferrari and Lambo to a Vett. Apples and oranges.

I said something similar on another forum, discussing the question "what makes a car exotic?"

Well, the guy was posting it to see if I remembered what it was -

    Yes, I remember now -

But, as you say - an elusive goal, as Bugatti pretty much owns this silly record.

We shall see... if SSC actually goes into production with their next car, the Tuatara, it will be a silly fast car... 1,300hp, 2,700lbs, 280mph...

Not sure that anyone who made a Ferrari out of a Fiero deserves to have the title of Supercar.

I don't know about that. When I saw the current Vette for the first time I thought it was a 360 coming at me. So I think the comparisons are valid, since the 360's 430's don't really fall into the supercar label, and a Z06 / ZR1 can certainly keep up with them.

I guess I can understand the concept of a "supercar". But "legendary car", thats something else, of course. A legend. A pedigree. A history. Comes down to what one wants.

I think we've discussed this car before, but I'll have to do a search to be sure.

Anyway, a quick web search makes it sound like a modern creation with an invented backstory. Specs according to a post from another message board:

    Fiat 1100E chassis s/n 352058
    Lancia 2-liter engine
    Fiat 1500 gearbox
    Fiat 508C axles and brakes
    Maserati Borrani wheels
    NO DOCUMENTATION

SOrry, I somehow missed your answer.
Thank you ever so much. Where did you get all these info, if I may?

    It's such a beautiful car.

These types of ads generally employ digitally-edited images using two or more different cars and then adding some touches to ensure that the original images can't be identified.
