Hi fellers, Well...the realities of my professional life having taken a dump for the last almost two years now has led me to another unpleasant reality...I'm probably going to have to sell my car. I simply need to get some $ in the coffers and a new career started, and then I can, perhaps, re-visit F-car land again. The main problem is that I live in Temecula, CA, which is ostensibly an "island" as far as employment is concerned -- 75 miles to Orange County, and 60 to San Diego...one way. Anyway...if you know of anyone who's looking for a gorgeous early carb GTB with some very nice mods, please let me know, or let them know about me Many thanks...and sadly yours, Scott
Well, that just sucks to hear. I certainly hope that you can find something before you have to part with it. PDG
Sorry to hear that Scott. Hopefully things will improve and you'll own a Ferrari again soon. Post some pics...maybe you'll find a buyer here. Best of luck...Jim
What a useful post. A buddy of mine in the LA area is in the market for a nice 308. PM me a few details, a photo, and a general sense what you are looking for, and I'll forward it to him.
Scott, move to AZ and out of CA. Reduce your housing cost by 50% and enjoy the lower tax rate. The job market here is improving in most all sectors. Good luck.
Scott, I'm sure we are all sorry to hear about this (except for that guy who thinks a GTB is a house!). Best of luck with the sale- a GTB is a desirable commodity these days so it may go quicker than you expect. Jeff
Sorry to hear this, Scott. make sure our baby finds a deserving new home!! Greg Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk 2
Hey guys, Thanks for all the support and well-wishes. To clarify, it is a GTB, not a house. LOL! I wish it were just a house... Also...would actually like to move to AZ, but locked into CA for the time being. Greg, Yes...I'll try to make sure she goes to a good home. Sigh...
p.s. Some stats: 1977 308 GTB; red with black interior and red "spears"; approx 38.5K miles; Wilwood brakes; 17" Speedlines; Varishocks and QA1 springs; Stebro exhaust; aftermarket roll bars; quicker steering rack, Individual K & N filters (carbs re-jetted accordingly) ; Euro bumpers, etc. Have all the tools and books and many records. Also, have original bumpers, air box. Please let me know if anyone would like pics. Thanks
A 77 is the first 308 I ever drove - rented one in HI in the early 80's (doing the "Magnum" thing). Really liked the sound of the carbs over an injected model that I also rented a few days later. Yours sounds like a really nice car - wish you the best of luck selling/getting a good price for it. Wouldn't mind having it myself but one Ferrari is sufficient.
Kind of uppity post having just joined. Scott, GLWS. Post up some pix please. If I hear of anyone looking, I'll send them your way. Henry
I'll try to get some pics asap; going to be raining here, and I seem to have a hellofa time trying to upload pics on this site :-( Probably "operator error" :-o
Email them to me and I will post them if you like. Just remember you have to run an add in FerrariAds also or you will get spanked by the moderator.
Scott, the rules about cars for sale require you post an ad in Ferrariads and then link here. As a subscribed user you will have no problem to post the ad. Good luck with the sale, a 77 GTB was also the first Ferrari I ever drove. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/vbclassified.php
In my view this is not an ad (yet). Scott has not said the car is for sale and no price is mentioned by Scott or the responders. Scott has a lot of friends on this board and is commiserating with us about his current situation. His situation - the possibility that he may be Ferrariless for a while is shared by many of us in these "challenging" economic times Given the oft quoted statement that "owning a 308 makes no economic sense" in the best of times it's not out of line for Scott to turn to his friends for their advice. Same as the many "what do you think my car is worth" threads here. So, Mr. Moderator, I think you're cutting a pretty fine line here, and not one that benefits those of us who enjoy this site. Scott knows the rules and if the time comes when he has to make a sad decision you can be sure he'll post it properly in FerrariAds He's not doing that yet because (fingers crossed) he may not need to sell. Many F-car fanatics share their joys here and also their frustrations and needs for advice. The last thing we need is moderators with a quick and heavy axe. Respectfully (kinda) Steve, P.S. I'll be interested in seeing if my thoughts make it to this thread!
Thank you, Steve (and others) for the support. The ad is not posted but, as always, I can NOT download the pics (file too big). So...as I noted, please send me your email address if upi would like to see pics
Good luck, sorry to hear, always hate to read when someone's selling their car. However, if nobody sold them then I would not be so lucky LOL. Hopefully you'll be back soon after helping a new new owner realize a dream
