Oh, Ivan! How cute! ;) I'll have to wait for a grandson to enjoy this, though.

Me too. You have to admit that reading to your grandson about a red 300S that blew the doors off a Jaguar D-type is a lot cooler than reading about Thomas the Train and his problems going up hills :)

What a great concept and graphic quality, Thanks Ivan!

I used the "Create Your Own Poster" function to make personalized posters for my garage, my brother's garage, my sons, nephews, nieces for Holiday gifts... Two Thumbs Up!

Years ago I read a book about a kid who found an old MG in a barn and with the help of an Italian mechanic rebuilt it.
I am sure it was set near New York and the car was a MGTC. The title was Old Red Race Car or similar!
Have searched google etc but have not been able to find out anything about it - must have been a dream.

My 3 year old DAUGHTER asked for a race car for Christmas. She will love this book.

I hope the Little Red Racing Car comes off well for the author.
The Poster idea is great and have also now got one for my garage.
Just a note about The Red Car, first print date was 1952!

Here is a photo of the book cover I got as a Christmas present in 1959!

The title reminds me of the recent review in VeloceToday of a new memoir by Tony Brooks, which states:

"Brooks had found great joy in precisely drifting and cornering with a high-powered front-engine Grand Prix car, reflected in the name of the book. For him, the classic four-wheel drift was “Poetry in Motion”. With the coming of the rear engine and the much lower power of the 1.5 liter cars in 1961, racing lost much of its attraction. He retired . . ."

My recollection is that high slip angles returned with the 3 liter formula in 1966, but they lost me for good when F1 cars became rolling billboards starting in 1968.

The satisfaction of driving my skinny-tired postwar sports cars in the manner prescribed in these books vastly exceeds the pleasure to be had in technically superior modern cars, at least on public roads.

    From the book's author ......

A Kindness from Sir Stirling Moss

This past weekend I had a distinctive piece of international mail waiting in the box. It was a letter from Sir Stirling Moss. Inside, he called the The Little Red Racing Car project "delightful" and gave me permission to use his name in the story.

A month or two ago, I had sent a letter to Sir Stirling explaining the project. I shared with him my hope of introducing a new generation (or generations) to the wonderful super-sports cars of yesteryear and that if I could, I would very much like to introduce a new generation to him, as well.

I can honestly say that my highest hope was that I might simply hear back – but I didn't dream of this gift.

And so, I introduce you to a new version of our story. It's the story of an amazing super-sports car discovered in a barn by a boy. The story of a Maserati 300S once raced by the great Stirling Moss!
