Don wish we could join Carolyn and You this year, will arrive back from overseas on the 8th unfortunately.

For those that haven't been this is truly a special event, not only is the drive fun but the people you are helping are truly grateful. If i remember correctly last year there were enough gifts to give children in neighboring towns a gift for xmas. Something truly amazing.

Here are a few pictures of the toy grab: note the picture with my us in it only has half the tarp filled with toys, the second photo gives you an idea of just how full it was!

I was hoping to have some info on the start place for you guys today but I guess it will have to wait until tomorrow. I am waiting to make sure we have permission to use the parking lot---that is the hold up. This event has gotten to be pretty big so we just can't start at some nondescript location because it just won't accommodate all of us. The following is an updated list and if you are sitting on the fence I have included a few pictures of some of the tasty aspects of the run. I will tell you that if you do not go your car will hate you!

    The following people have signed up so far;
    Wade S.
    Will H.
    Charles C.
    Steve F.
    Jim E.
    Nicola C.
    Bob P. 8 cars +8
    Richard S.
    Tillman 2 cars +2
    Glen K + 1
    Vivek G + 1
    Licht +1
    Mike W. + 1
    John S. +1
    Don P. +1
    Mike J +1
    Nick V +1
    Shaun H. +3
    Maximum 810 4 cars +4
    Phil C.
    James w +1
    Chris A. +1
    Jerry W. +1

This is about 34 cars, so you guys that have not committed look at the included pictures. That should get the juices running!

Remember we had over a hundred cars last year so this list needs to grow pretty quickly.:)[/QUOTE]

This year we will be donating to a new group. This group is called Trigger's Toys you can find them at www.triggerstoys.org. Bryan Townsend runs Triggers Toys and specializes in connecting needy and deserving children with toys. He is closely connected to various hospitals in the area and will start distributing our donation on the 10th of December.
In addition Bryan was the subject of an interview on the Brian Williams NBC national news show.

I have included a list of items that they are requesting. This may make your shopping a bit easier. I have told Bryan that I hope he has a lot of kiddos on his list because you guys always bring the biggest donation.

I will post the start place later today or tomorrow. Just in case you missed the 5 pictures above I have included a couple of additional ones.

Hi Don, I posted the details and your contact information on the Alfa BB under the Lone Star Chapter section. Also, I noticed that Garrick has the run listed on the ICCSW website. Hopefully some members of those groups will participate.

    Good luck with everything.

Here is the updated list. Also PLEASE NOTE if you can't make the run and want to make a toy donation, I have two businesses that are acting as collecting points where you can drop off your toys. They are "The Tin Lizzie Affair" 13350 Floyd Circle 972.234.3791 and RAC Performance Centre their new address 3236 Skylane, Carrollton Texas 214.269.1577. The Tin Lizzie Affair is located on the east side of central by TI and RAC is on the west side of Midway by the airport.
As our other half of the drive if you wish to make a cask/check donation I will have an envelope with me on Saturday and that will be delivered to the Collin County Children's Advocacy Center on Monday following the event.

So this is 41 cars and 1 motorcycle so far. Carolyn and I will go out tomorrow and run the route at the same time as it will be run next week just to make sure all is OK. So I will have an accurate mileage and time. We will take the Ferrari to make sure all roads are clearance safe. The following picture is part of your "crack crew" in the Ferrari badged Explorer counting cars at an intersection to make sure the light is long enough. Only the best for you guys!

OK, yesterday Carolyn and I took out the old beater 512m--you know the worn out one with 20, 000 miles on the clock and ran the route just to make sure all was clearance safe. We had no problem with the roads when speed limits were observed. I will say that we did the run at posted speeds plus about 10% just to make sure.
    The run as we have it constructed has basically 4 sectors;
Sector 1 has a bit of city driving and then some warm up road and then some very serious
twisties, a little cool down section and then some more twisties.
Sector 2 has some longer straight sections where legs can be stretched using discretion!
Sector 3 has a combination of both and ends with some pretty tight turns
Sector 4 has a few lingering "fun" roads but you get back into "Urbana" with some small
town city driving and then the dreaded highway to get to the restaurant.
There are a couple of DRS zones-Dedicated Revenue Servants-and we will point them out on the map. We have driven the route three times and we did see a couple of DRS agents outside their normal habitat yesterday. So if you are going to utilize sector 2 you do so at your own peril.
It took us 1:45 minutes to transgress 80 miles. But it was an enjoyable 1:45 especially with that flat 12 humming along behind us. We are pretty sure you will like this run!

    ATTENTION ACHTUNG ATTENZIONE

Here is the start location for the 8th Annual FCA-DFW Toy Run:

The location is the Panera Bread facility at 3050 South Central Expressway in McKinney Texas 75050. This basically the corner of Eldorado parkway and 75. Yea Yea Yea I know it is under construction but is has been that way for 2+ years and its not going to get any better quickly.
I have included a rudimentary map for your convenience. Here are the instructions on how to get there. If you are coming north on 75 exit at the 39A Eldorado Parkway exit. There is a detour that is marked, but you will turn right off the access road on Market Place, then go to Medical Center Dr. where you will turn left. The next light is Eldorado Parkway turn left here and as you go over 75 you will see on your left a big shopping center with a Bed Bath and Beyond, a Sports Authority a Pei Wei restaurant and the Panera Bread place.
Continue on Eldorado parkway until you get to the next light which is Craig St. Turn left here and go about 500 feet where you will see a sign that says Craig's Crossing. Turn left there and come to the back of the parking lot---on the 75 side.
NOW VERY IMPORTANT--- please leave the first two parking lanes just to the south of the Panera Bread building for their clients. We can utilize the ones that are further south and please stay away from the other businesses. See map for parking. Most of the businesses here don't open on Sat. until 10 and we will mostly be gone by then.
Panera Bread has coffee, soft drinks, snacks and restrooms so we will be taken care of on that front. Everyone needs to start arriving by 8 or 8:15. I want to have a driver's meeting at 9:15 and doors shut for the first group at 9:30.

    RULES FOR THE RUN!!!!!!!!!!
    A. If you intend on trying to set a world land speed record--please don't attend!
    B. If you are in one of the first groups don't do something stupid that draws the
attention of the local constabulary. That jeopardizes the run for the rest of the groups.
    C. There are no awards for getting to the restaurant the quickest! Unless you get one
from one of the DRS stations.
    D. This is a charity event and a fun run. So lets keep both of those aspects in mind.
    E. If you are a driver you must be 18+ years old.
    F. Do not be the lead car in a group if you do not have a navigator--you will get lost!

That's it I hope we have a bunch more cars sign up and have good weather.:)
