Do you know what happened to the panels it was dressed in when a racer? I much prefer the LM spec its now clothed in but the Hamman ones must still be out there somewhere if they didn't come with the car?

Did you manage to find out who carried out the LM work? and are Michelotto the only suppliers?

No sign of them as yet and no that troubled about finding them as much prefer LM body. I think some of the work was carried out by a small race prep company in York and am looking into it, but a lot of money spent what with the bodywork, engine rebuild etc. I think most people mod a standard F40 clam rather than suffer Michelottos bills!

Think I have pics of this car @ Zandvoort, somewhere in the nineties. Have to check my analogue archive but I am pretty sure since I never missed an Italia a Zandvoort event back then...

Very kind, that would be great. So boring with analogue, so easy now with digital.

According to my information (Cavallino report about IaZ): Helmut Daab of Germany.

Looks you might have gotten an Ohlins suspension with that car. Can't do any better than that if it's still on there.

Boy, how can you see that?! I will know next week when the restoration starts. I suspect it is still on there and am with the restorer tomorrow so is there an easy way to tell? the reservoirs are sited just behind the inter coolers but aside from that.....

Well the ad is down so if it was clear in that, I can't see it now. Nonetheless, I see some telltale signs in the other older pics.

I am in the process of installing some LM parts on my F40 street car (none of the body or wing pieces, though) and have been spending a lot of time looking at the suspension, which is getting rebuilt just due to age and preventative maintenance. I had a custom suspension made by Ohlins in Sweden for my previous Ferrari so between all of that I sort of know what to recognize. Send me a pm next week and I can possibly fill you in more.

If that is the case, I am not familiar with them as Car shock absorbers only for bikes. Are they really that good and what are the benefits?

The price is in pound notes so multiply by 2 gets you to $760,000 US dollars.
I paid $545,000 a year and a half ago and there are some for around $600,000 so this would be on the high end. maybe with Classiche Certification it is worth it.

I would suggest you are wrong and your maths needs a little help! Price was actually $415,000 and any LM with a Classiche certificate would be worth more like $2.5M. Sorry, but difficult to take you seriously for your 5th post.

Sorry to bring back an old thread, but that sentence "All in all a beautiful car which I propose to now tidy up, new fuel cells and cosmetics" made me laugh in light of what you ended up doing to the car!! :)

Really can't wait to see the end result!!

Thanks for that! Amazing how it appeared externally and then what we found....

Anyway, this is just a proper 'tidy up'
