I heard stories of Hiromitsu Itoh wearing Banzai warrior headband in the Miura SV-R from Japan traversing the autostrada at 175 mph whilst completely lost with his American passenger, stopping every half-hour only to top up engine oil and ask local Italians directions in Japanese-English. Good times..

Yes, thank you, Jeff. It's been a larger project than I first imagined...

Then again, I suppose they always are! :)

I always smile when I read these stories. So a car parked in the underground car park now qualifies as a "barn find"? I guess Don Cornelius' 365 GTB/4 Daytona Spyder parked in the underground parking of the Beverly Hills Hotel was a barn find too :)

Nice period color and appointments though.

"Barn find S" £300k, not sold. "Come speak to us after", so may have gone after the event.
"SV conversion" £375k hammer. So about £420k after fees.

    Debatable Andrew.

I seriously recommend that if you have that sort of coin to drop, buy a pure provenance P400S and enjoy.

Free advice that I am certain has value upside.

At the price paid, where do you go with that car? Restoring it back to a P400 will make him completely upside-down for a P400, based on what he has already spent. You cant go the other way and complete the SV transformation because it will never be an SV.

Right now it has the front end of one model of Miura, and the rear end of another. Its a real dilemma, I think.

If i bought that car, i would try to correct the front (especially the eyelashes) and the wheels, maybe paint it in red or orange and then enjoy it. It's almost half the value of a genuine SV now. The wider rear makes all the difference for me. The P400 and 400S are gorgeous but with that wide rear/wheels, it's aggressive on top of that.

But i can see your point, it's hard not to go for a P400 or S which might continue to go up.

I do find it questionable of the factory, if indeed they did fit the SV rear clam, that they would allow this car to wear SV badges. The front grille also stands out as being incorrect for an SV, as well as the eyelashes.

Indeed, it still has a complete P400 front end, P400 interior trim etc. Yes, very questionable.
