The interior (dome) light on my 355 does not come on when the doors are opened, nor does it come on when I press the button on the centre console.

However, it works fine when manually switched on using the switch next to the light.

The red warning lights in the door shuts light up when the door is opened, so the door switches are working.

I suspected a faulty light timer, however this part is only listed for the 2.7 cars. Does anyone know what takes its place in the 5.2 - or perhaps I'm barking up the wrong tree altogether?

Make sure the light is tilted in the forward position (aft edge lower than front edge) and it should come on when the door is opened. If not, I suspect a sensor button problem at the door to frame interface.

Should have mentioned - it's a Berlinetta, so the light itself isn't a rocker switch. I would have thought that the functioning red lights in the doors indicate that the door micro switches are fine?

Pop the light out of the assembly and make sure all connections are secure. Mine had a similar issue and come to find out one of the wires was disconnected.

Thanks. I found that one of the wires had been disconnected and have now reconnected it. However, the light now stays on all the time! I've tried the various combinations of switch back/forward, centre console switch on/off and door open/closed, waiting for a good 30 seconds in case the delay is overly long. Nothing would turn the light off apart from the switch in the housing. I guess either the wires are now connected incorrectly, or I have a bad ground.

I've attached a photo - if someone could quickly post a photo of a working setup, or knows which connections to swap off the top of their head, it would save me an hour or so digging around in wiring diagrams!

This probably won't help much. Sorry my car is on jacks right now so I had to just reach in pop the light and take a picture for you without being able to disconnect the lights so it's a bit bright. FYI I have leds thats why my bulbs look different.
It looks like mine has 4 connections to the light itself.

I also have a 355 GTB with exactly the same problem. Did you manage to resolve this, so I know where to start looking??

    Appreciate any help.

Very interested in any details you can offer with regard to how the short was detected or what was replaced.

    Thanks!

I have discovered mine isnt working because the white / black wire connection has snapped off the metal surround.

Can anyone advise how the interior light assembly is removed - does it just pull away, or are there any secret retaining screws?

Any help will be very welcome.
