What is the cut-off for rebodied cars discussed in this forum?

  1. Absolutely no discussion here of cars without original coachwork or coachwork that appears as origin

  2. Only allow discussion of factory-sanctioned rebodies

  3. Only allow discussion of cars rebodied within 3 years of construction

  4. Only allow discussion of cars rebodied within 5 years of construction

  5. Only allow discussion of cars rebodied within 10 years of construction

  6. Only allow discussion of cars rebodied prior to 1980

  7. Allow discussion of all rebodied cars that are not replicas or "recreations" of other models

  8. Other (please explain below)

Piper's book title makes sense, literally.

Charlie B's book should just be called scrap-book.

First of all this car is just STUNNING! Glad this car is back at the family who bought the car new...

Just a minor error to be corrected... If i read this nice little book correct , the remains were not bought at auction but at DK engineering. Advertisement was in FML.

I bought 0627 at Flint British Motors in Phoenix in either 1971 or 1972.
It was an old car when I bought it, 11 years was an old car back then, but looked pretty nice.
I paid $1250.00 for it and drove it home.
Not much but you could buy a new Cadilac for 3 times that.
So... Marcel is right about there being money involved, lots of it.

However he ncouldn't be more wrong about it being rebodied much much later.

I have the name and story of the guy who bought it "new" in the early '60s and the owner in the late '60s before it went to Flint British Motors.
It was a known car in Phoenix.
It was called a "Scaglietti Spider".
I sold it to John McLaughlin and he sold it to Terry Maxon.
I spoke to Terry after he sold it to be restored and he said the markings on the inside of the panels showed Scaglietti did the rebody.

When I bought it the salesman told me it had belonged to James Cagney.
Maybe we should blame that slick salesman for that rumor.
Of course, I was taken by the car, not the legend.

Sold as a new 1960 Ferrari by the Ferrari importer.

Fully agree. Paperwork as proof has its limitations.

The black and white image was taken during my ownership, 1971 - 1973.
Notice it has Scaglietti badge(s) on it.
They would have been hard to find at that time and who would have cared about them, so I presume they came on the car.
The color image was sent to me in the 1980s by Terry Maxon after he sold the car to be restored.
