I think that is why there is a such a push lately for the Infiniti badging. If you can tie something to a production company it will have a much better chance. Infiniti is a major player now and being linked to the GTR is not bad. Especially with the upcoming ttv6's.

So if red bull pulled out infinity/Nissan would buy them. Uh oh not another corporate team. Haha

I'm not a fan of RB, I like teams like Mercedes and Ferrari that make their cars and their motors. In my mind Infinity is a 90's marketing gimmick modeled after Honda's Acura gimmick. I think an F1 team should be required to build the car and engine.

It takes a very long time for a team to be mythical.

That would make it incredibly difficult for startup teams to enter the sport. Maybe after 5 years of competing or the second season after winning a championship, whichever comes first.

I agree with the fact that a 'mythical' race team needs to have a storied past. RB has a few decades to go......

There is a difference between being succesful and have a mystical status. Ferrari didn't got that status 'just' by being succesful, it got that status based upon the cars, the races they entered and all the interesting people that were involved in whichever way. That's what leads to wonderful stories and maybe, only maybe, those stories will lead to a mystical status.

Murray walker recently said that Vettel has a good chance to do so. He's only 25 and further ahead in his career than MS was at that stage. He's got an easy 10 years left in the sport. If he continues on with the dream team (Newey/Vettel/Horner) he will go a long, long way.

Especially if he can cheat as well as MS.

So far I haven't seen any cheating done by Vettel. One could argue that the car is not always within the spirit of the regulations, but that is really not the driver's fault.

Just like I don't blame the alleged traction control on Schumacher's Benetton on the driver. Parking at Rascasse is a different story.

Not a fan of products being named the same as the team/car (unless it is auto related). Benetton, Leyton House, Footwork ......yeechh. No problem with them being sponsors mind you.....

    Exactly. Otherwise it becomes Nascar.

Look for simply "Nissan" in the future...

The name, "Red Bull Renault" won't be around forever. Maybe it will become Renault or Nissan, or Renault-Nissan.

Marlboro cigarettes are as healthy as Red Bull energy drinks. Red Bull Renault is today's equivalent of naming Ferrari..."Marlboro Fiat".

Ferrari sports the UPC, but doesn't need Marlboro sponsorship to complete the name. It's "Ferrari".

If McLaren gets the Honda engine, and we see more "Honda" around F1, Carlos Ghosn (Renault-Nissan's CEO) has stated he will consider changing the name to Red Bull Nissan.

SERIOUSLY? You are saying that energy drinks like Red Bull are as bad for you as smoking cigarettes? Give me a break, this blind hatred of Red Bull because they are beating your beloved Ferrari is out of control.

Your assessment of my comment is wrong, but I'm definitely not a Vettel fan if you want to feel you got that right.

I personally don't care what anyone puts in their own body, so that wasn't my message, either. My statement refers to two points. The first is that cigarettes have been regarded as unhealthy for the lungs and recently, high-energy drinks containing high-caffeine intake has been regarded as unhealthy for the heart. The second point is that since Marlboro advertising was suppressed to the level of a UPC code on Ferrari and only the colors on the driver's uniform, then it may only be a matter of time before the Red Bull name has a negative connotation and changes are made there as well.

And, I don't hate anyone or any team, but I think Vettel openly shows his immaturity level quite often. He luckily drives a very fast and well-designed car, but is defintely not as skillful as Alonso. And, I most definitely like seeing Renault-Nissan in F1, because I traded in my Dinan tuned convertible BMW 3 for a 2011 Altima Hybrid which I thoroughly enjoy to the max. vive la différence!

How old is coca cola? Or pepsi? Red Bull is the Coca Cola of the energy drinks world IMO. Won't be replaced. Only real competitor is Monster.

When RB starts making cars for sale to the public and keeps doing ti for a couple of decades, RB will achieve similar mythical status as Ferrari.

    Vettel.....

Not even time to dream about such things on the public record, young pup. I'd like to see how well Vettel would have done at Mercedes this year.....chew on that....

You are making huge leaps of logic here. I have no idea how you are coming up with these thoughts, they just don't add up.

Renault has been making cars for 30 years more than Ferrari.

    True, but so what?.....

Ferrari have always had a somewhat successful presence in racing. Once upon a time it even "improved the breed". It's that combination that leads to their "mythical" status IMO, not any road cars.

    Cheers,
    Ian

I don't think RB are achieving mythical status
It's Adrian Newey who has already achieved it for himself.

If it's all Newey and not Vettel, then why isn't Webber coming second every year?

Remember, Webber beat every team mate until Vettel.
