    Hello,
I am new to this 458 forum and I am finalizing my order tomorrow and would appreciate any opinions/thoughts on what I have pieced together.

    Here it is:
    Corsa Red/Beige combination
    Racing Seats
    Scuderia Shields
    Rosso Corsa Brake Calipers
Carbon Fiber Steering Wheel with LEDs
    Electric Steering Column
    Yellow Rev Counter
    Rear Parking camera
    Front and Rear Parking Sensor
Horse Stitched on headrest in Black
    Leather lower tunnel
    Leather headliner in beige
    Leather rear shelf in beige
20" Forged Sport Rims, Diamond Finish
    Cruise control
    Nero carpet

What I had in there and want remove is:
Premium Hi-Fi system (I never listen to the radio in these cars)
    Fire Extinguisher
    iPod Compatibility
considering getting rid of Rear Parking camera and
    front and rear parking sensors

Now I might add some carbon fiber accents inside the cabin to go with the steering wheel and racing seats, but I don't want to go overboard because the cost quickly gets out of hand.
Finally, what are your thoughts about having the premium sound system. My dealer has mentioned that for trade in later you want to have certain options on the car. Am I missing any "must have" options?
Please help because I don't want to order an odd-ball car that makes no sense later on and I am a little nervous about the final order! This car is a dream come true for me and I am so excited that I almost can't stand it:)
    Thank you, in advance.
    Treviso

P.S. Do I need to have a special stitching that makes sense with Beige?

I have a 2013 458 (TDF), and would recommend for sure the Ipod package and especially the front/rear sensors @ almost a must have....or camera, you need one of them, for your own protection and re-sale.

I do not feel there is a need to upgrade the Stereo, sounds great to me.....

I do have CF throughout the interior, sure, gets pricy but beautiful add-on.

    Enjoy your new car.

First things first and welcome to the forum. This is precisely how I started out figuring out how to order my 458. Congratulations on this dream almost becoming a reality.

I would say that there are no 'must-have' options. It is your car at the end of the day. Order it precisely as you wish and how you will be happy with it.

The spec sounds really really good to me as it is. One thing I would say having heard a lot of comments from others on here when speccing my car up and seeing a lot of pictures ( I have collected a massive archive of these) - rosso car with rosso callipers - may be too much red? I have liked many rosso cars with silver, black and yellow callipers on it, but with red, for me, becomes too much red. No idea why, but thats how it works in my mind. Another reason I would go for black callipers on your car is because you are going for black carpets and black stitch, so just to help that black carry on through? Have a look at some pictures as I am sure plenty of owners will gladly post up for you. I will also look in my archive and send you some. Having said all of that, I have ordered a white car with rosso callipers. Think of this what you shall - but I have carried on that red into the interior with rosso stitch on black sports seats. Another thing you may want to do is black centre stripe in the sports seats - looks muy bien.

You ask about camera and sensors - depends how much you use your car, how many areas you go to that would potentially need this option. For me, my car is going to be a daily driver and I would not have a car without at leat the sensors, but also the camera - I do not want to, under any circumstance hit a curb etc. Makes me sound like a crap driver, but I do not mind that. To me, for my use - money well spent.

A lot of the specs depend how you want to use the car. I would suggest Sat nav and premium hi-fi if you want to take it on long drives or are in the car for significant lenghts of time and going to unknown destinations. But it does not seem to me you plan on using it too frequently and you will use it for a blast down roads that you are well aware of and at that time you want to just listen to the engine note? that is amazing and then no you do not need sat nav or premium hi fi. Although I would suggest listening to the normal stereo- not too hot.

Homelink? - i would consider that.

Sports sill? - i like that option personally especially with the DF rims.

You can go mad with CF - there is a racing pack that people on here will tell you about that saves you some money rather than buying each CF piece individually - this is a whole interior CF pack essentially - race seats, steering wheel, centre console, dash etc.

ipod- I would use it to charge my phone and a proper connection to the stereo. It depends a lot on how much time you expect to spend in the cockpit.

You have gone for a very elegant look on the 458 which will look stunning!!

    When is delivery expected?

    I can feel your excitement!

Ps. if resale and depreciation are issues - then I would definitely get the sensors. Not sure how much the premium hifi would affect it, but if I were in the 2nd hand market would want it.

If you're going to get racing seats and the CF steering wheel with LED's, you're better of getting the Racing Package. You have to order the seats with it but it will get you the most CF at the lowest cost. It's more money but you will get the dash insert and the center console this way in CF.

I think the red stitching in beige gives it a much more finished look, especially on the dash with red cars.

I have the front, rear parking sensors and the back up camera. To me, they are worth it because one "ding" will set you back thousands. But, it depends on your nerves when backing up and your parking situation. For my piece of mind, I want it.

If you are getting the leather headliner in beige, I think you need to order the upper leather zone in beige. Otherwise the pillars will be black and the surrounding areas of the headliner on black but the insert of the headliner in beige. It might look funny. Or just order the headliner in black leather (the standard headliner looks like a cheap silvery fabric).

Some things to consider for "trade" value:

    Electrochromatic mirror
Homelink (to get in and out of gates)
Ipod (I don't use it either but it will help with resale)

Diamond finished wheels look great but if you scuff one, you have to have it machined to get rid of the scratch. Something to think about.

That's about it. You're dealer will help you quite a lot. They've seen what people ask for and don't so he can give you some pretty good advice.

I have front and rear parking sensors and feel they are adequate and didin't get the rear camera. I have the upgraded stereo but never listen to it unless my wife's in the car.

I would like to thank everyone responding to my build/order details.

    1. So, I am thinking about yellow brake calipers (instead of previously stated corsa red) to tie in with the yellow scuderia shields and the center hubs on the 20" sport rims. Also, the tach will be yellow too.
    2. What about the non-diamond finish 20" sport wheels?
    3. Black leather headliner instead of beige, but keeping the rear shelf in beige to match the seats. Black leather headliner will look more contiguous with the black pillars mentioned above. I agree.
    4. Racing Carbon Fiber package which will change the interior look quite a bit. My question is whether this racing CF package changes the lower tunnel at all? If not, should I keep that beige leather?
    5. Does everyone get the electric steering column?
    6. How about cruise control?
    7. Black carpets? Non-alcantara? I saw a 458 Spider that had alcantara floors and it was just gorgeous, but my gut feeling is that they wont wear very well. Alcantara tends to get kind of shiny when it begins to wear.
    8. Finally, should I have some sort of special stitching on this Corsa Red/Beige 458? I am not keen on red stitching however...Also, no red racing stripes on racing seats either!
I am looking for something elegant, maybe even understated, but still classy. Something that looks good on beige. My dealer has suggested black horse stitched on headrest. Any thoughts?
    Please help!

    Sincerely,
    Treviso

    1) I had yellow calipers on my first 458. I got silver on the next one (spider). The reason for this change is that I found the spokes in the wheels are very thin and the calipers are really huge. So, if you like a lot of yellow, they're great. As an alternative I had a difficult time choosing between red, black, and silver. I think all will work. Google 458's and you'll see a lot of them with different calipers, including yellow.

    2) Non Diamond finish wheels are just painted silver. Very commonly chosen.

    3) You have several choices here. To keep the beige interior, chose the upper zone in beige. If you want the upper zone in standard black, then pick the headliner in black (although I think beige could still work -- it will just stand out more. If you order the rear shelf in beige, the lower tunnel ALSO will be in beige. So, keep this in mind. Refer to my interior below.

    4) The racing package does not touch the lower tunnel. The only change is the inset in the upper tunnel (where the buttons are). If you want the upper or lower tunnel in CF, you have to order it that way. You can get both or just one or the other. They are not cheap.

    5) The electric column used to be standard and in 2012 it became an option. I did not order it because IMO, you adjust this once and probably never touch it again. It depends on how you want to get in and out of the car or how many drivers will drive it.

    6) I ordered cruise but it's a bit weird in this car. It's called a pit lane limiter. It depends on how you intend to drive the car. If you are going to take it long distances, it's great. If not, it's a waste. Your call.

    7) Can't help you on 7. To me the standard carpets work well under your feet.

    8) Can't help you here because I like the red stitching (and red stripes for that matter). All I can tell you is that when people see this interior, they drool. But, I think it would look good without it too. Again, it's your personal taste. There is no right or wrong here.

In addition to the very sage advice given above, I would only add the following:

    1) Yellow calipers do not always match the yellow shields -- I have seen cars where the tones of yellow are different. Ferrari might have updated this.

    2) Personally I think the carbon fiber is going to look a bit dated in a few years. It serves no structural function and is purely decorative but not a "timeless" understated way which is what you seem to desire. I think a red seat stripe is more classical than CF. Just my opinion.

    3) I like how Mayor went with silver calipers: I think it really works well with the thin spokes of the rims.

Silver calipers. Ridiculously overpriced at $1800. :) The car itself: Priceless. :)

Thank you Mayor and Ice9 for some great advice and consideration as I am nervous about putting together a nice/elegant car. I (of course) have a few more questions that I need advising on:
How about the idea of black leather interior (no alcantara on seats) with white stitching? All black inside with some CF accents, like the Racing Package?
What are your thoughts of Corsa Red/Black leather interior? Resale?
Is resale better with the Corsa/Beige combination?

I ask because I was originally looking at 430s and I found a Grigio with only 2500 miles and a manual 6 speed gearbox that interested me...only until I realised that it had a blue top, beige seats, blue carpeting to match the blue dash and soft top...I was just too fugly (IMHO)!
I just don't want to end up with THE fugly 458!!!
Again, thanks for all of your help...much appreciated!

This looks like a perfect interior combo, if the Mayor doesn't mind you pinching the idea. IMHO, cruise control on a 458 seems like an oxymoron but then I don't drive mine in daily commute type traffic and find sport mode just fine for other daily driving scenarios.

Interesting question. Having had a 360 and 430 with Corsa/Beige I now have Corsa/Black in the 458 with red stitching. Personally I much prefer Corsa/Black. It kinda feels more "the business" . It's personal but any future cars will be Corsa/Black.

Everyone will have their preferences on this subject. Some very good advice has been given though. I suggest listening to these guys and your dealer. It has been a trend and a good one IMO to go away from yellow and red calipers in favor of silver. I prefer that. The diamond finish wheels are my choice. For sure get the 20" wheels whatever finish you choose. Consider a white tach for a new, sharp look. The CF accross the dash is a great option. I have seen Rosso/Tan with red stitching and it was fantastic. Red stitching on black is also great. can't go wrong with either. The A pillars are better in tan with a tan headliner. If you put in a black headliner use leather and make the A pillars black. You're doing a great thing getting input from some experienced people on this site. I wish I had done so on my first car. I'm sure your car will be beautiful. Enjoy!!!!

Well, my order went in today. I ended up going with the following:

Corsa Red with Black Leather Racing Seats with dark gray (grigio scuro) contrast stitching with Black leather headliner, pillars, lower tunnel, and rear shelf...all black leather. Scuderia Shields. Black Carpets. Horse stitched in dark gray (grigio scuro)

Carbon Fiber Racing Package with CF steering wheel with LEDs, CF door sills, CF Dash, upper tunnel inset top, shift paddles, etc... Yellow Rev Counter

Forged 20" Diamond Sport Wheels, Red Calipers, Michelin Pilot Sport 2s tires.

Premium HiFi Sound system, Electric Column (dealer talked me into it).

I dropped the rear camera, front and back sensors, iPod, and cruise control.

The car looked really good to me and I think that I will be very happy with it. Now...how to manage the May/June delivery anticipation? Please share your thoughts on my build. I would like to thank all of you for all of your help and expertise! It is amazing how much I have learned in just a few days!!! This 458 should be a monster ride!

Sounds really cool. I would have gotten a black interior also as my first choice but the Vegas sun is just too hot for a convertible.

    Thanks Mayor!
It was both fun and stressful figuring out this car. I just wanted to make sure that I wouldn't have any regrets later, especially over just a few more thousand dollars that wouldn't make that much of a dent in the overall price of the car. I really can't wait to drive this beast. With my other sports car being a Ford GT (with all of it's old school coolness), this ultra high-tech 458 should just boggle my mind! I enjoy having cars that are completely different from one another for some variety and spice.:)
Again, thanks for all of your help. You have been more than kind and I am much obliged.

When you pick the interior color, the seats, the door panels, and the roll bar humps come with it. I ordered the rear shelf in beige leather so that's how the lower tunnel came that way. I prefer the rear shelf in leather than running carpet up that area.

The upper zone is also in beige on my car. That's how you get the inside pillars in beige. Otherwise they come in basic black.

    I charge a 5% royalty. :)

Two things I do recommend that are often forgotten is to do the real shelf and headliner in leather (or alcantara if you like). The rear shelf looks weird IMO with the carpeting that high up and the basic headliner looks like a rather cheap, silver perforated synthetic material of some kind. If you're doing an all black interior, then you can avoid the rear shelf in leather.

Do you recommend a black leather headliner for an all black interior Spider or the base headliner is ok?
