We Gotta follow this one http://www.ferraritampabay.com/detail-1979-ferrari-512_bb-f_102_bb-used-8285250.html Yeah , Plastic still on Sills
Good day All, A number of threads already posted on Chassis 28987 this year... http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?p=141191527#post141191527 Cheers, Sam
I wonder if it was driven in the US at all? 1500kms is about right for a used Boxer purchased in Europe in the late 70s for export. No tools, probably no books, maybe no spare tire, needs quite a bit of work... As is, I'd guess it is worth about $130-140k. And most of that is due to the low miles.
strange! ! ! the car is a german car, delivered by the main distributor that time. auto becker in duesseldorf. the bumpers rear and front seems to be US, also with the side markers. but only 1500 km ??? I doubt ! ! ! if you have a look at the leather driver seat and passenger seat you see a difference what you never would see if the car has only so little km on it. also when you see the carbs they look not really good outside, but this could be because of the age. then the floors at the passenger side looks also not like 1500 km. sure it is a nice car, but 280K???? may be in 10 years or later, but not now. or does it mean BruneiDollar (BND) and not USDollar??? may be the shafts inside the gearbox are golden??
The car looks nice, but there are some nasty details, the weights at the wheels for example. The car has 1500km and is already "red" repainted ... a price about or above 150.000 for a very nice BB isn't that strange in Europe. Seems that BB's are not very popular in America ...
There has never been a real US-Version of the 512 BB - so all cars are "grey market" imports - also the conversions may differ becuase of that ...
I think they have had this car for close to a year now. Funny that a TR gets sold for that price but not a Boxer. They should auction it.
I'm not buying the 15k klicks on this car. I'm seeing quite a bit of wear related issues even in the low resolution pix; imagine what it must look like in person. There are many other F-cars with far more miles/klicks on them in far better shape than this example. IMHO, if the 15k is accurate, grandpa had it on static display for the kids and grandkids to crawl all over.
Is a black headliner correct? Mine is off white. Seems like a black one would make it really closed in feeling. Price seems pie in the sky high.
Mine was black in my 365 BB, as was the rest of the interior...not too bad. Price...+!, pie in the sky to me also.
Too much a premium unless you just want to keep it as a collector piece. Drive it 3000 miles and it's worth just about what others are.
Hello all, When I got my 512TR, the interior was sat in a lot with the passenger seat showing equal wear to the drivers seat. Interior carpets show equal wear on both sides too, including the floor mats. The key was worn out and easy to bend. The chrome plating on the key was worn almost completely off. The key broke easily. The last key I had that was in that kind of shape was a vehicle with over 500k miles on it. This 512TR only had 37k documented miles. The key showed a lot of use from letting people sit in the car, probably in someone's showroom. The car runs fantastically and it has been an excellent driver. Hot start, cold start, it starts. The point I am making is that these cars see more use sitting still than being driven. Yet the mechanicals are judged by the condition of the interiors which see far more use.
It definitely does look a bit tired. I therefore agree that it's probably due for some serious $$ to be invested in it. The mileage looks a bit wrong. Maybe it's just my imagination, but the shift knob looks really pitted for a car with such low mileage..
Aside from the very observant comments about condition versus represented miles, it strikes me that this thread title will not seem so aberrant in a few years. We all have stories of, "I remember when", and my personal ones can include buying my Dino back from the guy I sold it to for 26grand in 1988... at a time Boxers were a quarter mil. Of course Daytonas were twice that, and this pecking order was understood. Though we are all some version of Boxer fan or we'd not be on this forum, and there have been many pontificating its "any-day-now" rise to the financial occasion (including me), we can't hurry it. It'll happen, just a question of when. This car, though potentially over-priced, of questionable mileage, with possibly deviating details, will seem a bargain when the world wakes up. My 2cents, worth about that.
to auction would guarantee a weak result. these cars only sell for decent numbers if traded at a dealer it seems.
Maybe the previous owner just sat in his car, standing still in his garage..pretending engine noises and quick shifts...
Again, there ought to be a massive discount to compensate for the horrible eye sore bumpers. Like trying to resale a Mary Kay Pink Caddie. Yuk. Too many other good ones out there.
