I was driving to work today. Slow Monday morning city driving and I come up on a red stop light. I'm a few cars back from the intersection. When I come to a stop, I hear a "THUD!" on my side of the car. I turn just in time to see an apple core bounce off my window!

I was momentarily shocked. Then I became very pissed off. It was a big SUV pulling into the left turn lane that was the culprit. I pulled into the left turn lane behind him and went to discuss the incident. I thought it was a kid in the back seat being naughty. When I got to the driver, I told him what had happened and asked if there were children in the back. But while I was asking this, I noticed there's no one in the back. Only the driver...a middle aged male.

So then I asked the stupid question "was it you?". And the reply was "Maybe". I became really pissed off at this point.

    me: "What's your problem?"
    driver: "What's YOUR problem?"
me: "Why did you throw the apple?"
driver: "You should get back in your car before you get hurt."
me: "I doubt that I'll get hurt."

My hands are shaking as I'm typing this. The rest of the conversation is a bit of a blur. It got heated and somewhere in there, I remember saying, "Happy Holidays you F'in' Idiot. I also told him that I have his plate number and I'm calling the cops to report this incident.

Foolish me. I found out, after speaking with the police, that if there's no damage, there's no case.

What is with some people? I know growing up that if I did something like that, I'd get the ass whipping of my life from my mom. Old school Asian moms had no problem with discipline.

How do people think it's ok to do something like this?

    Anyways, sorry for venting.

    Happy Holidays,

    Manny

Unfortunately, these types of bullies are everywhere. Record documentation (license number, date and time), then let the authorities do the rest. You never know whom you're dealing with, so don't take any unnecessary chances. Life was not like this while I was growing up, thank God. Glad you and the Dino are okay. Fred

Something like that happened to me once.
I merely walked over to the apple core and using a napkin picked it up.
Then after the man parked his car and got out to go into the store.
I walked up to him and said " Excuse me, you dropped this "
He held out his hand like he had dropped a twenty or something.
And I gave him his apple back.
The look of stupidity on his face was worth every penny of the laugh I got out of that.

A few years ago, someone decided that firing a paint ball onto my windshield while I was driving my Dino was amusing. I never saw the culprit (after all, my view was totally obscured by red paint). I was lucky to be able to stop safely. I, too, spoke to the police here in LA. Of course, there was really nothing to be done. Once your blood comes off the boil, you realize that 1) some things in life are beyond your control and 2) the odds that the a-h-l- who did it is driving as spectacular a car as you are greater than a million-to-one. So, smile. You're a lucky guy.
