yes, I noticed that! But this green "captions" mention only the event/location! But no year, no drivers, no cars! Thee are only very few internet-websites or books from Italy that are providing proper research work as - location - exact date - name of driver(s) - race number(s) - result(s) - car(s)
So far I have seen ZERO books or websites that would be anywhere near accurate in the information they provide. This have made me seriously to consider if it would be better to just share the pics as they are, instead of trying to provide information that will prove to be all messed up in the end... I think races at Pergusa are particularly tricky as starting lists and results probably appeared in the local newpapers only...
The race is Giro della Cravatta-Enna or GP Di Pergusa, there are only 7 races between 1949 and 1955 in this track.
Can anyone assist. I am looking for photos of Gilles at Montreal in 1981. He crashed and continued on with various pieces coming off as he progressed. There was a great black and white shot of him looking past his totally bent front wing at speed in the rain. I had it but unfortunately it was damaged recently in a flood. Can anyone out there assist me in replacing it or coming close? Thanks a lot!
Found this model car: http://www.racingmodels.com/ferrari-126-ck-turbo-gilles-villeneuve-gp-canada-1981-143-special-set-20624-p.asp and came across this nice picture of Gilles and his 308: Image Unavailable, Please Login Gr. Martin
Fantastic video. He was my favorite driver in the 80's. A great pilot. He died the same day I bought my Dino. Some more photos from various magazines. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
A high quality image of the black and white above is exactly what I am seeking! Please keep the others coming also.
