Who reading this thread has ever bought a Ferrari with more than 25,000 miles on it? I know we encourage "driving" , presumably without regard for how much we can sell the car for at the end, but looking at it from the other side, who buys a Ferrari with so many miles when there are so many with much less and more often than not, one can be found at a good price. Best

I don't think you could ever buy it cheap enough. I bought a 2011 458 with 150 miles on it. I wouldn't buy a Porsche with 40k on it much less a Ferrari.

Why? It's just a car, meant to be driven, not saved for the next owner. Would you apply the same logic to your girlfriend?

Agree regarding owner, but when discussing a "purchase", it certainly depends on her condition (lol). Best

Yes I don't want a GF with "High Miles" either. Although they are cheaper. Should give Napolis credit for that quote. LOL

I want to start with a fresh example and then drive it as much as I want to.

I think the problem is figuring what the resale value and resale-ability will be when the new owner's done with it. If someone buys a high mileage 458 like this as a driver, which is fine, 50K-60K miles is just around the corner. I think one must get a really good deal on this car, well under $200K IMO.

If you had the money and maybe several sports car to enjoy, why not drive your 458 everyday?

Its just a car, and will be one of the highest produced Ferraris by the time the production cycle is over. Glad someone enjoyed it.

Unfortunately, the vast majority of Ferraris do not get driven, hence so many on the market with ridiculously low miles. Until the used Ferrari market stops penalizing in value, Ferraris with "normal" mileage, this phenenon will likely continue!

Most Ferrari customers seem happy to drive their cars 1-2k miles a year (many just a few hundred a year). In contrast, virtually no Porsche owner buys a p car expecting to drive so few miles a year!

I will drive my 458 as much as I want to, I am not worried about the miles. However, we were talking about what you would buy. I have a bunch of cars and like driving them all so none of them get miled up. I could set fire to my 458 and roast marshmallows and it wouldn't Make any difference. Why buy a miley one when you don't have to. I would rather have a pristine car.

I sold my 2000 360 with 28k on the clock, which I considered relatively normal mileage but was considered "high." I personally wouldn't buy a car that hadn't been driven at least 1-2k a year. Fluids are meant to be circulated, and I'm buying one to drive anyway, so why not buy one that has a proven track record at getting driven?

+1. I have always driven all my cars, regardless of what it was. The reality is that the difference in value of a 458 with under 1000 miles and one with 6,000 miles might be $20K. The cost of entertainment to drive the 458 an extra 5,000 miles would be well worth the extra depreciation. Why would you lay out $300K in the the first place? If your dating a super model, chances are she is going to cost you money. Enjoy her thoroughly until you are ready to trade her in for the next one!
