Buying a car in the Chicago are and I need to perform a PPI but no Ferrari dealership does this anymore for liability issues. Can any of you recommend a good shop in that area that knows the 348 well.

Give Brad a call at Euroquipe.

    http://www.euroquipe.com/

They serviced my 348 for the previous owner and did a PPI and leakdown/compression test for me prior to my purchase. I was very pleased with them.

I bought my Saldana radiator at euroquipe and it was a pleasant satisfactory experience but never did a PPI

    Sent you a PM.

Cost varies on what you have them do.... some places are reluctant to do it anymore as buyers are using it as a negotiating tool. (which i think is applicable)

I talked with Richard at Competizione about it... he feels some shops don't want the liability if the car blows up after they do a PPI.

I personally wouldn't hold the shop accountable for issues, but I sure as heck want to know what I'm getting myself into before a purchase like a Ferrari. and yes I know nothing is guaranteed and they can miss things... but it gives you a bit of a baseline.

Sorry to my attorney brethern... fear of litigation has caused a lot of the reluctance.

When/If I ever decide to sell mine, I'd almost require the buyer do a PPI and sign my attorney's recommended bill of sale :)

my 2 cents plus the Ferrari tax ;)

Edit: Also -- I had them pull some oil from the gear box and engine and send to http://www.blackstone-labs.com/ for oil analysis. FatBillyBob recommended this and it does tell you a fair amount about the oil -- unless they just changed it.

He bought the car and it was apparently in absolute mint condition. Perhaps he will chime back in and post but I am supposed to see the car in person soon and I can't wait!
