"I was driving yesterday down the road and it suddenly stopped running and turned off.. can anyone tell me what's wrong?" or, "I was at this stoplight and the car suddenly beeped twice and wouldn't go into gear.. people in minivans were laughing.."
I bought a manual-trans. 2006 F430 Spider last year, right at the end of the driving season. I wish that I'd found it a few months earlier! Fred
I have 04 360 3 pedal car. I looked around for a non F1 because of the fund shifting and the surprise repair costs that some times happens in the F1 world. The attention factor in the 360 is a lot less than the SPF GT-40 that I just sold. I really enjoy the car and this is my 5th Ferrari. Knowing what I know now, I would buy one again .
I purchased an 05 430, Red/ Tan int. F1 trans. Love it! It's sure gets its share of looks even in the beach areas of CA. ,where every other car is some kind of Exotic. I just hope it's reliable and doesn't cost me an arm and leg.
When I opened this thread I expected such a response from you. I think it's time you got rid of "your 430."
2005 Rosso 360 Spider. 2 years and not 1 regret. Wish I had more time to use it. Glad I waited for a late model. The 2005 is very well sorted.
Why not ? I drive mine anywhere anytime. Why not ? its not going to melt ! Why not, mine is parked at UCSB (where I work) daily. Its a Ferrari it will attract, that is why I bought a blue one instead of a Red one, less noticeable but it did not work its still a attention getter. The people at work now ignore it, the gas station guys ignore since they see it weekly. I wanted a daily driver (shares daily with my motorcycle) and that is exactly what I got, I have NO REGRETS. To be honest I do have one, that I did not buy a 360 much earlier.
Zero regrets on my purchase of a red/black euro spec 360 3-pedal. Every single time i see the car i smile and it reminds me to never give up on my dreams. No other car can create that reaction from me.
Agreed. Ive never gotten such a reaction but i also dont have much time to drive my car these days...
The common theme is no regrets except for waiting so long and perhaps holding out for a 6-speed. Except for Boo's painfully slow tortoise-like 430 (have to wonder if he didn't accidentally get a Fiero with a bodykit), it would seem these cars meet expectations. Good to know.
I looked for about a year before buying my 360, with the only unalterable criteria being a manual transmission. I just enjoy the process and after 30 years of reading road tests describing the "classic Ferrari gated shifter" my first Ferrari had to be so equipped. Perhaps another advantage is that model year may be less important, as the F1 upgrades in later years do not apply and assuming that the ring gear has been updated under warranty along the way on the earlier years. There were several color combos that I could have lived with but a 2000 red/tan came up that met all my essential criteria and I do like it. A few option observations: I wanted Daytona seats, but at some point you have to pull the trigger and everything else was there. It is a relatively easy change to add the Daytona center section, if the car is otherwise what you want. I don't think I've ever used the sound system while driving the car ( the exhaust is a wonderful sound system), so was happy not to have the somewhat bulky speaker of the premium sound system between the seats. Same for power seats - set the back angle the first day and have not changed it. I prefer to move the seat all the way back when getting in/out to prevent bolster wear and the manual seat is very quick to adjust. So, look for a good car, be a little flexible and I expect that you will greatly enjoy the experience, as I have.
I'm sure in Boo's case it's the shooter and not the arrow. Can someone in Chicago meet Boo and actually see if his 430 is a POS?
^^Seriously? You think that with all the outright hostility I've encounted on this forum merely for expressing my opinion that I would be amenable to meeting up with one of you? I wouldn't count on it.
I bought a new F430 spider F1 while never having driven one and thought it was the best car I had ever owned. No, I never thought any differently.
The 6 speed connects me to the driving experience. No regrets. Finding the 'right' car does take time. Mine was in Illinois. Now in California. Getting relevant options enhances the car. The color and interior were non negotiable. BFD if I'm 2 one hundredths of a second quicker per shift with the F1? Not my concern. The 360 will be a car I have for some time. Maybe 10 years. I believe a distinct possibility will be the difficulty of support for the F1 system in parts and expertise. The dealership doesn't work on ''old stuff'' now. The 360 will become 'old' in time. Just a thought. Then again with the numbers produced--- there may be a market to support this car in all it's iterations for some time.
It's not for expressing your opinion, it's for beating it into the ground and being so obstinate. Ok we all get that you think that your 430 is a POS. Fine, move on. Do you really feel it's constructive to insult people on a Ferrari board and tell 430 owners how crappy their car is? Furthermore, on any 360 discussion you have to chime in and say basically my 430 is crap, but the 360 is way worse than that. How old are you and what has happened in your life to act this way? Do you think I go on Rennlist and tell everyone there that my 430 is much faster and more exciting than my previous 997 GT3 or Turbo. No, because that would be rude and show poor taste. Hey, I understand why you don't like the 430. I remember you saying something to the affect that it's ridiculous that the 430 has such low torque. Well, the 430 is a low torque, high HP (which you don't really understand the concept of) car and you really need to keep it above 5K to make it sing. You should look at a Turbo, Vette, Viper, etc to feel that low end torque. Nothing wrong with liking that type of car. Personally, I wanted a Ferrari, so I could hear that V8 scream to 8500.
I have to agree with you babyboo. It was only an observation you made after all. But I have no regrets at all. So far it's been a dream car and I still can't believe I own it. Love it.
+1. I don't take my car out enough, but I cant stop staring at it in the garage, and that makes me happy.
He sounds like a customer for one of them push rod V8's that Chevrolet produces. Nice car that Duntov derivative, too. Wish I could have one of them to blow my skirt up...
I do that too. stare at it. These days I just get out the wax and buff it up a little. If I'm gonna be in the garage, at least make it useful.
