How to clone a black remote fob ....

I have read all the posts regarding cloning remotes and I am confused as to how many remotes you can program to work. As part of the purchase of my car the dealer supplied a full set of remotes as the red fob and PIN were missing. I was able to keep the two black remotes that no longer work. Can I program these to work, or will the Alarm ECU only accept a max of one red and two black fobs or can I clone these two and have a set of four blacks.

 

As afar as I am aware as the clones are clones of originals the ecu cannot differentiate so yes you can have your two old blacks cloned against one of your new set

 

Or you could sell your two extras to me. I'm having a hard time finding more fobs.

To answer your question, yes in theory you could have 5 working fobs for your car.

 

pkl103- That old quote from me is incorrect. Only a matched set of three fobs with a new PIN can used to reprogram the Alarm ECU to accept them. This document should explain how the fobs work and how to program the Alarm ECU to accept them.

When reading old threads, it is often best to start at the end and work your way backwards as we figure out how to make things work.

I have only a red with the code. Based on what was said previously, I can't add a black (see Gobble's comment above)(?)

Todd- When you clone a fob, you copy an existing fob's memory from the EEPROM onto the clone fob's EEPROM. So you do not have a set, you have a back-up. If you use the original for a week or so, you will then have to press the clone button several times to find a rolling code the Alarm ECU has not already seen.

You cannot add a black to a set of one or two fobs and have it work independently like one of a matched set of three.

I have 3 original 550 alarm FOBS i will sell for a reasonable offer. No associated code...so good for cloning.

I purchased a new set of alarm boards and fobs for my car, so I don't need them any more.

But as I have dropped the $$ on the whole new set of boards, PIN and fobs.... My old three fobs can go on to a new home....

So, if there is anyone in the thread, who wants fobs and you and Eric can do the programming .... thats a match made in heaven !!

I may have to replace my ECU. I have a complete set of fobs (1red,2black), 2 keys, and my pin.

I am trying to get some clarity on what I actually need to accomplish this. They sell new ECUs for under 800. Do these come with new fobs and a new pin or do I program the new ECU to recognize my fobs and keys and pin?

Is the pin unique to the keys and programmed into a new ECU?

Bought my 1998 F355 spider in Sept with one key, one black fob and no PIN.

It is my first Ferrari and had no idea this issue is so complicated.

I never lock it because when I was locking it, the alarm would randomly sound. If I leave it unlocked ( nobody can figure out how to open the door anyway) and only use the fob to start it, no random alarm.

My apologies for asking questions already answered in the thread ( read the whole thing) but what are my options to obtain the PIN and back up key and fob?

The help is much appreciated.

 

Key = good locksmith

Fob = ask Gobble to clone

Pin = $$

Not unless you're planning to spend the $$$ to get a new set of 3 from Ferrari. You don't need the pin if you're just adding a new remote through cloning. I've heard obtainnig your PIN if you don't have it can be expensive and time consuming.
