What the Viper could have looked like if produced by Dodge in 1967. Renderings by Rafael Reston from back in 2009. Sorry if it has been posted before, but this is the first I've seen of it and thought it was worth sharing.

Ah, the last of the decades when model years ending with a "7" were special.

FWIW - Did he do one of a '77 Viper, with big-ass bumpers, etc.?

Interesting idea but I find the design language wrong for what would have been period correct for Chryco at the time. A trademark of Chryslers design of the time were concentric rectangles for detailing. No US manufacturer would have used covered headlinghts at that point either. Way too much tumblehome for the time.

Tumblehome = a term for the angle of the side and side gass of the roof. No "tumblehome" would be vertical. Lots of tumblehome would be as this exhibits.

Obviously you can argue the design details with hindsight. There are lots of different bits of other cars that can be seen in the design. However the images themselves in that deep red and also blue are quite an admirable work. Great to see!

I see ALOT of Corvette in those renderings...."tumblehome" is a quite common term in boat building/design....Mark

    cool video
in the very early phases of automotive design, the designs were influenced by carriage design & ship/boat design
"ships curves" were used extensively to produce many of the flowing designs during the late '20's & the '30's
the French really "nailed" that design language with some of the awesome Talbot-Lagos,Bugattis,etc.
