Awesome video of F12 and Pagani at track battling. Comparison article coming soon to SportAuto. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xLdNjDyPU3A
Awesome thank you. Anyway the Pag sounds pretty bad... Sad because it's an amazing car ! Wonder what lap time they could do with the same driver and tire...
I think the Huayra sounds great, it embodies the vision of Horacio Pagani that you should get the same feeling that you get when an airplane takes off - when you put the throttle down. Personally the part of the sound I love the most is the shifting burbles. Just sounds so sharp and distinctive. The Huayra is unique in so many ways, it's nice to see the sound has changed too, the turbo spooling in the cockpit is awesome. However, it's a bit funny that the exhaust is tuned to give MORE sound, instead of primarily silencing it.
Original link still does not work for me (North America), but it has now been posted on DPCCars and that works. http://www.dpccars.com/car-videos-13/01-11-13page-Pagani-Huayra-vs-Ferrari-F12-Track-Test.htm Seems like a promo video, with little useful info. Pretty clear (not surprisingly given the different weights and misions for the cars) that the Pagani is the faster car, but I was hoping that the F12 might pull a surprise on us.
At first the better driver is in the F12, then he switches to the Hyeureeyruueeaa. The F12 seems to hang or better the Hyeureeyruueeaa in the straights. The Hyeureeyruueeaa is faster in the twisties. Both great cars. I am truly astonished at the performance Ferrari have packed into the F12.
Interesting comparison but considering the GBP600k odd difference in price between the two the F12 does very well and has the far more inspirational sound track in my opinion. Still the Pagani is a piece of art and chances are if you can afford the Pagani you can afford to have an F12 too!
nice video, but how a serious and professionnal engineer can design such a stupid clear part of dashboard in the Pagani with such a reflection on the screen, I have same problem with my toyota jeep, imagine the kind of reflection with full sun!! stupid, just my feeling.
Would be interesting to know what type of tires each had. DOT legal competition tires make a huge difference on a road course.
Good point. Being a front V-12 man yourself, are you not in awe of what Ferrari have done with this F12. It seems insanely fantastic.
Love the Huayra and Horacio Pagani but the new exhaust note is simply worthless compared to the Zonda F, which I think pushed Ferrari to vastly improve their engine notes, beginning with the GTO. Maybe I'd forget about it behind the wheel but for $1M+ and knowing how the Zonda F sounded, I'm not so sure. Forza, Cavallini
You gotta give Pagani credit. He's the Captain Nemo of exotic car design. I actually like this car very much. It's sort of anti-McLaren. I'm not knocking the McLaren here in saying so-- it's just that they are on both sides of the spectrum. The McLaren is a no-nonsense business suit. The Pagani is Looney Tunes non-sense like a ACME anvil falling out the sky and hitting someone on the head. But, I always was a sucker for Chuck Jones Roadrunner/Coyote cartoons.
My guess is to see over its rear haunches. I have come to admire Mr. Pagani. He is clearly a dedicated fellow with a particular vision. His vision so far seems laser focused on his current creation so I don't put him in Enzo Ferrari territory. Enzo Ferrari clearly had wider ranging goals to bring to life and in my opinion created the realm of exotic cars in doing so.
While the Huayra is 1.3 million, the F12 is ~350-400K USD. For the performance difference between the two, thats quite a gap. But I guess the exclusivity and such of the Pagani makes it worth 900K more...?
