Door Locks

I had the same issue. It turned out that the door latch/strike plate was not aligned properly any more. Went to nearest body shop and the guy fixed it while I waited. If it doesn't completely lock up the mechanism doesn't fully engage and the button won't go down all the way. Needed a little cleaning and lubricating as well.

 

I'm having the exact same problem. In my case, the doors will stay locked however when I pull the passenger side door latch (from the outside), the door opens anyway.

 

I found that if either button is screwed down too far the door can't be locked .. just pops back up. Try unscrewing them a turn or two and see what happens.

Had that exact problem, couldn't lock one of the doors because the pull knob was screwed down too far.

I have a similar problem on my 308, but I now have a problem w/ the passenger door working loose as well. It doesn't open, but creates a door gap at the slightest provocation. Any ideas on this problem?

Have had the same problem & I think its just the passenger door latch not moving freely enough & engaging fully - I found that when it happened if I pushed/leaned on the passenger door it would then lock.

I squirted some WD40 into it & its been better but I think it probably needs stripping down & 20+ years of crap cleaning out of it.

Has anyone had one of these off the car? Is it a sealed thing or can it be disassembled?

 

On the 328, the door handle, levers and wires are possible to take apart. The locking mechanism is not possible to disassemble. However, it is fairly easy to use small stiff brushes to clean it up.

My central locking function is not working and it seems like those boxes are sealed. I plan to open them anyway and see if they can be fixed.

 

If the latch mechanism is a sealed unit I wonder if its possible (or even adviseable?) to flush it out with something & then re-apply some lubrication into it (and if so what?)

 

ultrasonic cleaner? Seemed to do wonders for my injectors.

 

Had a similar issue with my 308 not linked to the mechanism adjustment but a tiny bit of grit from the road had worked to the back of the striker ramp and prevented the mechanism from fully engaging. Felt a bit of a Pratt when I found it after pulling everything apart but it was well tucked away and not easily visible.

 

This was the problem with mine. Looks like somebody tried to unscrew it once before and kinda messed up the phillips head. I carefully used a pair of pliers and unscrewed it a few turns. Now it locks and stayes locked.

The part #13 is not sealed, just not possible to take apart. You can still put WD40 and flush it clean, then lubricate it.

Part #41 for the central locking is a plastic sealed unit.

 

That's the question I think (re part 13).

If its flushed out with Brake Cleaner/parts cleaner/WD40 or whatever, then what do we think would be the right thing to re-lube it with?

FWIW the connection on the top of the central locking motor (#41) is just a plastic ring & its not that substantial/strong - it doesn't want too much "testing" (I broke one once )
