There is that dark gray with red, GORGEOUS !
I do like the all original exterior colors but IMHO the crema or tan interiors suite the car best. I love the cockpit layout and the lighter colors really highlight the design. Big Red my second choice was dark grey over red and agree with your thoughts - but never saw one come up- I am really lucky I got my first choice in color combo though.... A few shots of mine along with an image of the original factory color chip options... My (now silver) GT4 started life as white. There is no way in my ownership the car will go back to being white. And yet.. show me an early S1 Lotus Esprit and no colour looks better on it than white.
+1 I like dark the best.. Hans' car looks great. If I had one, I would paint it black w/matte black boxer paint...
Mine is going back to the original Marrone Dino Metallizzato, love that seventies coor. Metallic colors work best on the Bertone design from my perspective as the outlines are much more visible, you loose them with a non metallic color.
So how about creating a new thread with a picture of a 308 gt4 in each factory color? i think phil already asked for that, would be a great reference.
This is a REAL REAL close second. Love the brown. It's disco-as-EFF! Sent from my iPhone (which probably means I'm sitting at my car, confused)
here's a list of 246 dino colors, with photos (courtesy of adrian!)...did the 308 have the same color options as the 246? anyone? http://www.dinouk.com/technical_colours_ferrari.html some of the colors i like... 20-R-549 Prugna (nice shot, with front spoiler!) 106-A-18 Blu Sera Metallizzato 106-A-16 Blu Celeste Metallizzato 20-A-357 Blu Scuro (my 246 is blue scuro, and it looks much darker..) 106-E-1 Argento Auteil Metallizzato
now i suddenly find myself leaning towards silver...(or pink) Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Done, now we need you guys to post 308 GT4 photos of each color http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?p=142028713
My view is that metallic colours suit the angular lines of the GT4 best. I'm not that keen on red, yellow or white at all. My car was originally 106-E-1 Argento Auteil Metallizzato with a blue leather/cloth interior and when I had it repainted about 20 years ago I struggled to make a choice, since you never saw Ferraris in any colour other than red, and the internet (with all these useful photos) was in its infancy. I eventually chose a Glasurit metallic Blue called Azzurad Metallizzato (FER 509) which is probably a close equivalent to the earlier 106-A-72 Blu Dino Metallizzato. I've never got round to changing the interior although the leather has split where it joins the cloth and it all looks a bit worn now. The car badly needs painting again now, and I'm torn between going back to the original silver (which I always liked) or changing to the lighter metallic blue 106-A-32 Azzurro Metallizzato which looks fantastic (see the Aussie car with the sunroof and aftermarket wheels above). At one time I'd have changed the interior to tan (black's a bit much in a 2+2), but I'd probably get the blue leather/cloth redone these days just with a better quality leather.
I too am in agreement that metallic colours suit the GT4 best. The angular lines have some nice details on it that really pop from the reflection of a metallic paint finish. If it were me I would paint a GT4 in a light metallic blue or a medium metallic grey. When it comes to the interior for sure it has to be light in colour. It contrasts nicely with the black dash and sliver instrument cluster.
I really like how the GT4 styling welcomes nearly any color. I can't say the same for the 308 GTB, or even the 246. Something about the angular design, almost nothing looks out of place.. same way I feel about the Esprit and Countach. If I ever get one, though, I wouldn't want rosso corsa or white... there are enough red Ferraris in the world, and there are very few cars I really like in white. Agree with what's been said about metallic paint and light interiors, they look great. Best GT4 color? All of them!
Another vote for metallics. I prefer grey metallic w/ Boxer trim. But of course, whatever color you have in garage is the right color. Unless you don't like it.
