Perfect E's are Up !

Never seen a surge in E prices like the past 2-3 months...

 

No kidding. I was strongly thinking about buying a series 1 FHC about 6-12 months ago. Now I am kicking myself.

Of course, I still think they are D-R-E-A-M-I-N-G at 250K. Around half that seems to be closer to reality. AFAIK, the most collectible E's are Series 1 3.8L flat-floor cars, and this car is certainly not that. But who knows, a Dino just went for about $350K at Amelia, so there are some crazy prices out there these days for nice examples of certain vehicles.

 

Well, it was a 100-point car...

But you're right, European cars from the '50s and '60s have been going through the roof. $100K was all the money for a nice E convertible not that long ago.

 

I just wonder how much of this is "real", vs. a temporary bubble like collector car prices saw in the late 80's??

 

Since once sold for $250,000, seems everyone with a perfect example is trying to get in on the action...

This thread makes me happy as i just invested $$$ on structural upgrades of my etype. Maybe i will get $$ back when i sell in few yrs.

Great guns! I'm with Nathan, I just can't see these prices being sustained.

Glad I bought my FHC when I did - it will never be worth as much as the early flat floors, but then I didn't buy it for the investment potential.

That car would be the best restored E in the world.

 

There's asking and there's getting. The ebay one in the op is still for sale on the vendor's web site.

 

Sold for 90,000 Euros (approx $116,000).

 

Looked over at Hagerty's guide - looks like E-Types up ~15% Y/Y (Dec. 2011 - 2012).

Agreed that EBay isn't the best reference, but asking prices seem higher than prior months. There's a FHC with a BIN of $62,500 - car is about same shape as mine.

Would be surprised if they get that, but if you say 10% off - you're at $55,000 - at least $5-10K more than I would have thought my car is worth.

Mine is a '66 FHC, numbers matching - I'd say it's between a 2 and 3 per Hagerty, which puts it right around $55K per their guide...interesting.

All I had to do is look at that interior..........If I had to make an offer I would be at about $55,000 US, maybe.

 

They had a good run up before the 50 year anniversary of the model.

 

I think $55K is fair...maybe a little low, but not too far off.

They are stating the bottom of the estimate to be 100k euros or 140 k us approx and since this car is or has been maintained by eagle the Europeans wil want it ! My guess it will sell close to or over 100 k euros . Let's see ........

I don't see 140K for this car, but to each his own.

 

If it's Eagle maintained, I could see 100K USD, maybe more - I didn't read the description, but I know the Eagle cars are well maintained (depending on level of mods made).

Does the E community at large factor in the Eagles when valuing a true E-Type? Not sure that's the right terminology because some Eagles are true E-Types, but are they artificially valued given the level of modification that can be done?

 

not sure really but i do think its mostly the UK where they are most apreciated . Kinda like Linx when they made C types ...
