Plastic toggle removal

Does anyone know the best way to remove the plastic toggle for the dash switches without ruining the toggle or the lever?

Pull hard. It comes off.

 

I pulled really hard, but they would not budge. The ones on the switches came off relatively easily, but none of the three lever ones showed any movement.

 

All of mine came off with a good tug. This has been discussed in the 308 section it just seems some are tighter than others. The pills or Mickey Mouse ears as they are sometimes known are replaceable items and they were not molded in place. You may wish to try heating the ends in hot water under a tap and then giving it a try. Maybe someone glued them in at some time in the life of the car so it may need a little more persuasion.

You could also use a hair dryer but I wouldn't go any hotter than that.

 

Thanks for the advice. I tried both with no success. I went ahead and undid the screw (and spring mechanism) that holds the lever to the bezel and pulled it through the front allowing me to access the decal thatI wanted to replace.

 

At least you don't have to worry about your knobs falling off!

 

the challenge that you will have is re-attaching the cables once the dash is in..its a real bear!
