For some time after purchasing my car, I had some difficulty finding a comfortable position for seating. In short, I found our 2012 MB to be a lot better "fit." After considering this, I found that the main reason is because the MB allows me to rest my elbows on the door armrest as well as the center console. With the 458, the armrest is out of position and my arms are left "hanging" on the steering wheel. In know the racing seats are adjustable at the dealer in terms of the seat height and am considering having them change it so I can actually use the armrest. Has anybody done this? How do you come up with a comfortable position for driving? Thanks.

Share your opinion on my first few drives.

I am getting used to having both hands always on the wheel when rolling. Arms do "hang" as you mention well above the arm rest.

One very big positive is you can control almost every thing on this car with your hands in this position. Makes me feel like a better driver as well.

Ditto. It is the proper driving atitude though it can be tiring on long trips.

That is the design intent, there is no arm rest in a go-kart.

It just happens that the 458 can be a very comfy GT as well.

I have the same issue and solved it by adjusting my seat higher (I have electric seat) so that my left arm rests on the door's armrest. Even though there is no central armrest but one is better than nothing and helps me anchor my upper torso while cruising.

No. I don't use the armrest.

I tend to keep my hands at 2100 and 0300 with my thumbs on the horn. Maybe I'll relax. Maybe I won't. The car is designed to keep all the action on the wheel. IMO, there is too much going on in the city to drive the car hard and keep one hand off the wheel.

I have over 4k miles on my 12 coupe and I have both hands on the steering wheel going around turns quickly as much of the time as possible. For the sedate driving segments, one hand is on the wheel and the other is on the center console. For hot, sunny drives, the windows are down and the arm rests on the window but I agree that this is not comfortable for long periods the seat is so deep. LOL, which a good excuse to drive her hard.

I have a 2012 MB CLS63 and I find the armrests annoying. With my hands at 9 and 3, I find that with any spirited driving/ slides, my elbows are always hitting the armrests when I turn the wheel. I have to consciously hold them away. They do make it more comfortable however, for cruising.

I am glad to hear the armrests are not in the way in the 458, because that car will definitely not be for cruising.
