I've been on the fence about selling my 99 f355 f1 spyder for a couple of years. For some reason I just can't bring myself to list it or drive it over to tonkin and consign it.

    Here's why I think I should sell:
I just don't drive it very often - it sits on a lift most of the time. I feel guilty for not driving it.
I have too many cars (10) and could use the room.
I could replace it with a classic car that would retain more value over time.

Here's why I think I should keep it:
It's way freaking cool. It's the right color. It's what I wanted.
    It's a Ferrari.
    Values today suck - I could get maybe 70k more likely 60k - I paid 116k.
I enjoy it on the rare occasions that I drive it.

What say you? I need some rationalizations!!

Why why did I have to look at your website and see the 2002 360 in TDF.

My 355 is TDF. I've always lusted after the 360.

    Dare I ask?

No ****. That 360 is a gorgoeus car.

I think most Ferraris look their best in blue, TDF being tops.

I am sure your 355 is stunning in it as well.

only sell if you need the money. honestly you are going to get hammered on this car from your purchase price you might as well hang on and drive the crap out of it. Get it off the rack and put 10k miles on it this year and next. You'll feel better and you won't lose that much in resale when the (fingers crossed) market livens up a bit.

I posted yesterday and it must have been deleted by a mod.

Since I started this thread 2 years ago - I still don't drive the car hardly at all.

It's had a belt service at Tonkin last summer and it still looks great sitting in the garage. I guess I don't understand why I don't drive it much. I guess it's time for something different.

NO idea on price - I guess it's off to ebay and the ads here to figure it out.

I'd keep it, especially as you just did the service. Unless you have decided that you actually don't like it or something.

These cars are purchased for the heart, not the head, so sunk costs--like the major service--shouldn't be a factor in keeping, but a selling point to a potential buyer. If you "don't know why you're not driving it," that's probably because you don't have an emotional connection with it anymore (or, who knows, maybe ever). If there was a gorgeous day and you had the time and didn't go out for a backwoods thrash, that's pretty telling.

If that's the case, I'd say sell. There may be a new automotive romance waiting with the next car you choose. Unlike people, you're not going to hurt your car's feelings by leaving her at the curb.

In another thread you pointed out
So you could be biased Sonny.

That said, I cannot imagine parting with any of my Ferraris. My kids will have to make those decisions.

My only suggestion would be to put it where you can easily drive it. If I have to move 3 cars to drive my 355, it gets used a lot less than when I just have to hop in and go. Try putting a different car on the lift and see if you use it more often.
