    :D +1 more keyboard..... ;)

    I reckon we need a single sticky with;

    1. Isobel-ism's for any noobs.
    2. Vizsla one-liners worthy of an archive.

    ;)

    Cheers,

I'm no longer confident...3 years of decline have sapped me of that virtue.

But I'm glad for fans that, despite all odds, cheer for their teams. I was more of a Schumi fan than a Merc fan so I'm less inclined to cheer for their success now. I will always try to base my opinion of them (or any competitor) more on merit and fact than emotion. Merit and fact have been lacking IMHO.

Have you thought of getting one of those virtual/projection keyboards?

    Happy Friday.
See you Sunday after the games.

I am starting to warm to Force India.
To me they are the little team that could.

None of 'em today, even Marussia, (!) are very far off. But it does seem that FI could be the closest to the "big guys". I certainly wish them well.

F-I have issues, denials or not. There has been zero good news for either major partner-

No word yet on drivers for Force India «

I like the team, but not their manager.

Vijay was just another one of those arrogant *******s who enters F1 proclaiming to win the title within the next 3 years.

Has anyone ever joined the club without making such pronouncements? Gets your guys motivated; "We're not going to be at the back forever" and as I've said before, hope springs eternal at any level of motor sport.

These guys are typically also *very* successful in whatever they've done and probably underestimate what's needed to win - They've been "winning" all their lives.

I think he may have learnt a little humility recently. Not just with the F1 team but the grounding of his airline etc.

    Cheers,
    Ian

Remember going to the amusement park as a kid? The signs that said "you must be this tall to ride".
In F1 the signs say "your ego must be this big to play".

Indeed. 'cept their ain't a sign made that's big enough. ;)

Convenient for the Pygmy that there remain sufficient big enough egos. At least for now.

Still it pisses me off to no end. If it was that simple then why aren't McLaren or Ferrari winning the title every third year?

Like the heads of BMW, Mercedes or Force India have discovered the secret ingredient. BS.

You can make a good living in F1 without winning/going for the WDC. I much prefer a realistic team manager who says we're in it to win some WDC points which gives us enough of Bernie's money and sponsor attention to make a living of what we love to do.

That'd be exactly my attitude. IMHO there is nothing wrong with being a runner-up or even an also-run as long as it pays the bills.

Agreed. In those cases it's often down to circumstance as the only reason they lose the WCC.

Anyone want a job? Mercedes recruiting like mad again, these were just posted.....

Did he actually claim they'd win it all within a few years? I figured you were just making your point. ;)

    +1

I've said many times that few realize how hard it is to even *exist* in F1, let alone win. Winning consistently is almost impossible... Unless Adrian is your designer of course, and even he is due to do a dog soon (I hope!)

    Cheers,
    Ian

Your picture of that cubicle world was a bit of a turn off. So I say "Nein danke."

He actually did say that in an interview. I was shaking my head in disbelief. Normally you only hear that kind of idiotic rarah talk from the figure heads of the big auto companies. I thought as a garagiste he'd be smarter than this. Then again he is a figure head of King Fisher, so that's probably what got to his head (pun intended).

Anyone recall if Eddie J ever made such proclamations? I'm pretty sure Stoddard never did....

    :)

As I said, he may have learnt a little humility recently.

BBC Sport - Formula 1: Ross Brawn role at Mercedes under threat

I knew this was only a matter of time. I'm actually surprised it took this long and the top down approach of rebuilding suggests (to me) that AMG are committed to a revolutionary 2014.

I also reaffirm my belief that 2013 will be a transition year and I don't expect anything better than 4th in the WCC fight.

Back to square 1. Can't help but wonder what MS really thinks about this but I can't imagine he would have fint into this plan. I'm glad he left on his own terms.

Michael probably had a notion that 2014 was going to be the only year he would really have a shot. By then he's pushing the personal envelope even further, makes no sense really.

I really hope Merc isn't fast next year. 2 years from now, whatever, considering MS couldn't drive forever but I'll be ticked off if their car is a rocket next year and Michael won't get to drive it.

I still laugh when I think about that Fchat F1 expert saying firstly that MS will never drive again and then that he won't last the 3 years of his contract.

Personally, I like to stick to facts.

Be great for Lewis if Mercedes nails it, and a 'grrrrrrrrrrr' moment for MS I imagine.

No matter how this ends its a shame that good people have to be involved in what seems a tawdry situation.

Odd that Lewis' name doesn't enter into the speculation.
